Hey Iowa - how do YOU feel about YOUR tax dollars (to the tune of up to $450,000 a year) going to the Director of the mandatory, taxpayer-funded Center for Intellectual Freedom at the University of Iowa?

Extremists in our state legislature voted last session to create this (once again) TAXPAYER FUNDED safe space for conservatives on the U of I campus. Since a total of 19 TOTAL students enrolled in these "freedom classes", Iowa Republicans passed a bill to make taking classes there MANDATORY.

To give you an idea of what this space will be used for (and what your tax dollars will be used for) here's an article detailing a $34,000 payment for a conservative activist to appear at the $80,064 inaugural, invite-only event.

Iowa republicans appropriated $2 million for the center over 2026 and 2027 to hire faculty, host events, and promote the department.

This is NOT what Iowans need. For crying out loud - we just want clean water!! This is a scandal. We are under-reacting.

Happy Father’s Day to this guy and all of the other fathers, step fathers, father figures and mentors that provide help, advice, and examples of what it means to be a dad! I learned so much from my own father, Ron Mcguire, and am so honored to call him Dad. I couldn’t have asked for a better role model.

So sad to hear the news about Major Brad Hovey. Those who go into the service are heroes who keep us safe. My prayers are with his family and the community of heroes he served with. A truly tragic loss.
