An American Airlines regional jet from Wichita carrying 60 passengers and four crew members collided midair Wednesday evening with a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter near Reagan National Airport, sending both aircraft crashing into the Potomac River. No survivors had been found as of late evening, and police have pulled multiple bodies from the water, according to officials. The downed helicopter was on a training flight and three service members were on board, officials said. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said the Pentagon and the Army have launched an investigation into the incident, and President Donald Trump said he had been “fully briefed on the terrible accident.”

Attorney General Kamala Harris issued this statement this afternoon: "Today’s filing offers no new arguments that could deny same-sex couples their constitutionally protected civil rights. The federal injunction is still in effect, and it requires all 58 counties in CA to perform same-sex marriages. No exceptions."

SAN DIEGO -- The clerk of San Diego County filed a legal action Friday with the California Supreme Court seeking to block the issuance of marriage licenses for same-sex couples.

Yesterday, Congress passed the Farm Bill without funding for the Supplementary Nutritional Assistance Program (food stamps). Our assemblymember, Mariko Yamada, comments:

"I am outraged at what happened--or more correctly DIDN'T happen--today in Congress. Putting 4 million Californians, 47 million Americans at risk for hunger and its multiple ramifications is moral bankruptcy amidst obscene wealth and excess! Going on the SNAP budget for one week, once-a-year, is simple for me; facing hunger daily is real life for far too many of our neighbors."
