We know, we know…. those little colored flags in the yard can be a real pain when you’re trying to get that perfect, clean mow. However, the City of Angola wants to remind everyone to keep those flags exactly where they are!

Here is why they need to stay put:

• Safety First: Those flags mark crucial underground utilities (gas, water, electric, and fiber). Mowing over them or pulling them out puts you and the community at risk.

• The 20-Day Rule: Once placed, these flags must remain in the ground for 20 days before they can be removed.

• It’s the Law: Per IC 8-1-26, removing or ignoring these markers isn't just a hassle—it’s a legal liability. If damage occurs because flags were moved or destroyed, you could be held at fault for repairs and fines.

Help us keep Angola running smoothly! If you see a flag, mow around it, not over it.

City residents, please read below as a reminder for Monday, May 4, 2026. Our Street Department crews are beginning brush and yard waste collection today.

As you can see in the attached image, there are specific ways NOT to set out your waste.

Brush Pick-Up and Yard Waste Guidelines

Collection will take place the first Monday of the month, continuing each month until snowfall. One Pass through the city will be made.

Crews will start in the Northeast quadrant of the city and work clockwise.

Brush must be at the curb by 7:00 am on the first Monday of the month.

Guidelines:
- Stack brush separately from yard/garden waste.
- Brush must be stacked in one direction along the curb.
- Piles must be no more than 4-ft wide, 4-ft high and 8-ft long.

*Do not stack brush close to or behind vehicles, mailboxes, utility poles/boxes, hydrants, signs, etc.

**We do not collect grass clippings, rocks, dirt, lumber, firewood, household trash or foreign objects.

***If a contractor is hired, the contractor is responsible for removing brush and yard waste.

Note: During brush and yard waste pick-up for the month of May, the Street Department will do their best to collect remaining leaves as well. Please place leaves as close to the road as possible so that the leaf collectors are able to reach, but do NOT PLACE LEAVES IN THE ROAD.

Thank you. Have a great week!

Crews were unable to finish E Stocker Street today. They are now scheduled to return this Thursday (April 23rd) to complete the final surface layer of asphalt.

Thank you for your patience! Please drive carefully around the work zone.

ROAD CLOSURE UPDATES

This is a morning reminder regarding traffic restrictions effective today.

E. Stocker Street will be closed between Washington Street and Williams Street as crews will be paving asphalt following recent sanitary repairs.

Additionally, the southbound lane of S. Wayne Street is closed from the Mound to Gale. This temporary restriction is necessary to allow our crews to safely remove trees in preparation for upcoming sidewalk repairs.

Please note that this closure only affects the southbound lane of S. Wayne Street. Vehicles traveling north on S. Wayne Street will remain unaffected and will still be able to access the Mound as usual.

We appreciate your patience and cooperation. Please use caution and watch for crew members when traveling near these areas.
