🎓 The Brazoria County Sheriff’s Office is proud to recognize another important milestone in our Inmate GED Education program!

On Wednesday, May 27, we celebrated an inmate at the Brazoria County Detention Center who successfully earned his GED certificate through the grant-funded educational partnership with Brazosport College. Together with the college, a graduation ceremony was held to honor the commitment, discipline, and perseverance it took to accomplish this goal.

The Inmate GED program was created to provide individuals in our care and custody with an opportunity to better themselves and prepare for a more successful future upon release. This achievement represents a positive step toward personal growth, employment opportunities, and reducing recidivism. We commend this graduate for putting in the effort to make meaningful changes in his life and for taking advantage of available resources.

We extend gratitude to Brazosport Community College President Dr. Vincent Solis, Dr. Monique Bracham, Ms. Shardae Shaw, all college administration, and our own BCSO Detention staff for making this day possible.

The Sheriff’s Office remains committed to providing programs that encourage rehabilitation and self-improvement.

Today we were able to give a shortened CRASE Training: Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events. And we had the pleasure of sharing the floor with Rocky Trahan from Focuss K9!

To our Brazoria County residents: if you're interested in having BCSO come out to your local business or chamber meeting for a CRASE or Stop the Bleed training, email us at [email protected]
