TRAINING UPDATE!

This Thrusday Night, firefighters from across Washington Parish will gather at Fire District 5 to train with the Louisiana Fire & Emergency Training Academy’s Mobile Multi-Story Drill Tower.

This unique training opportunity allows firefighters to sharpen their skills through realistic, hands-on scenarios while building relationships with fellow firefighters from around the parish.

If you would like to come out and see what firefighter training is all about, you’re welcome to stop by and observe.

Roadway & Flooding Update:

This morning, First Responders from Washington Parish Fire District 5 were out throughout our district checking for weather-related debris and roadway flooding.

During these operations:
• Multiple trees were removed from roadways

We are continuing to monitor flooding conditions on Military Road between Williams Lewis Road and Hwy 438, as well as Balltown Road. These areas currently have light water coverage over portions of the roadway.

Our crews will continue monitoring conditions and will provide updates as needed. Stay safe and report any roadway hazards to the appropriate local authorities.

Washington Parish Fire District 5 is excited to host the Louisiana Fire & Emergency Training Academy Mobile Multi-Story Drill Tower on June 25, 2026, at 5:30 PM at Station 51.

This state-of-the-art training tower provides one of the best opportunities available for hands-on firefighter training, allowing personnel to develop and sharpen critical skills in a realistic multi-story environment.

We would like to extend an invitation to all fire departments throughout Washington Parish to attend and participate in this valuable training event.

Training opportunities like this help strengthen our firefighters, improve interagency cooperation, and enhance the level of service we provide to our communities.

Weather Alert! ‼️

Around midnight tonight, our area is expected to receive significant rainfall and strong wind conditions associated with Tropical Storm/Depression Arthur. Flooding, downed trees, and hazardous road conditions may occur throughout our region.

Please use extreme caution if you must travel. Never drive through flooded roadways—Turn Around, Don’t Drown.

Due to the anticipated weather impacts, emergency dispatch services may experience a high volume of calls. To report an emergency, please contact the Washington Parish Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center at (985) 839-3434.

We ask for your patience during this weather event as first responders work to assist those in need.

Stay weather aware, monitor local forecasts, and have multiple ways to receive emergency notifications.

As many of you know, our area received a significant amount of rain today. Several roads throughout our district currently have water covering the roadway, creating hazardous driving conditions.

Additional rounds of rain and severe weather are expected over the next several days. We encourage everyone to stay weather aware and follow the guidance of local officials and emergency management agencies.
