Momentum is in the air! ...and so is the framing. Although there has been a tremendous amount of foundational work thus far, there is something about seeing a project growing vertically that makes it feel more real. We've been told that this may be the tallest crane ever to be erected in the valley.

Can anyone guess which side is larger—the Admin./Crew side or the Apparatus Bay?

Crews from Magnum Welding and Construction LLC and Franken Construction Company worked through the night on August 25th to pour the concrete floor for the Admin./Crew side of the building. Finishing didn’t wrap up until after 8am on the 26th.

The total square footage of the building is 12,898. Both sides are nearly equal in size, but one is just a bit bigger. Take your guess!

🚨 Prescribed Burn Notice: Angel Fire, NM 🚨

The Angel Fire Fire Department will conduct weather-permitted pile burns starting as early as tomorrow, Tuesday, August 25, 2026, and continuing through Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

What to expect:

🔥 AFFD Transfer Station RX: Approximately 6 piles (10’ x 10’)
🔥 AFFD Station 3 RX: 6 piles (10’ x 10’)
💨 Air Curtain Incinerator (ACI): Burning slash

Smoke may be visible in these areas during operations.

Our wildland firefighting crews are currently deployed assisting with active wildfires across the region. Because our team is on the front lines protecting communities, local slash pick-up requests will take longer than usual.

Why so many pouring stages? Franken Construction and Magnum Welding & Construction have been ensuring that all levels beneath the finished slab tie together as a structural system. First, the Deep Pedestals to support the massive steel vertical columns. Next, the Grade Beams to tie the sub-structure together. Up to 1 Inch ( #8) welded rebar was used as the backbone of the foundation's strength. Look for the upcoming pours to hopefully complete the Polished Concrete slab by the end of the month.

Important Update on Business Fire Inspections: The Village of Angel Fire has officially taken over all business fire inspections! We want to send a huge thank you to our local business owners for your cooperation in using the New Mexico State Fire Marshal's portal in the past. Moving forward, all scheduling will be handled locally by our department.
If you are opening a new storefront or renewing your license, here is our new streamlined process:
1️⃣ Get Your Business ID: Register and pay your annual fee with the Village Clerk.
2️⃣ Submit a Request: Fill out our new local Inspection Request Form here: AFFD Business Fire Inspections Form
3️⃣ Get Cleared: Our team will be notified automatically and will reach out to schedule your physical walk-through.
📋 What to have ready before you click the link:
• Your Village-Assigned Business ID & a valid email address.
• Building name (if you are in a shopping center or multi-occupant space).
• Exact square footage of each building & total number of fire extinguishers.
• Proof of professional testing (fire alarms, sprinklers, or commercial kitchen hoods).
• A legible, drawn-out (preferably computer-generated) Fire Escape Plan ready to upload.

Please make sure all means of egress are completely clear and able to be traversed, and that all exit signs are appropriately hung and pointing to the correct exits!
