There is still time to register for the 2026 Andrews Junior Police Academy!
Applications can be picked up at Andrews Police Department located at 130 N. Main Street, and need to be returned no later than May 13th. Spots are limited.

*Junior Police Academy will take place on June 4th from 8:30 - 4:00 at the ACE Arena. Students must be in the 4th - 7th grade for the 2026/207 school year to attend.

SCAM Alert:

The police department has been made aware of individuals that are calling pretending to be with our department and wanting payment for an outstanding warrant. This is a scam!

It is a common scam this time of year as many municipal courts and justice courts are conducting annual case resolution operations(formerly warrant round up).

We do not call and ask for money. Do not send money to anyone over the phone pretending to be law enforcement.

🚨 UPDATE – ROAD REOPENED 🚨
North SH 385 between Mustang Drive and North Loop 1910 is now open to traffic.

The gas leak near Tractor Supply has been addressed and the area has been deemed safe.

🚨 Traffic Alert – Road Closure 🚨

North SH 385 between Mustang Drive and North Loop 1910 is currently shut down due to a gas leak near Tractor Supply.

Emergency crews are on scene working to address the situation. Current estimates indicate the closure may last approximately one hour.

For your safety, please avoid this area and use alternate routes until the roadway is reopened.

Good Morning Andrews!

A departmental goal for 2026 has been named to try and reduce the number of traffic accidents this year. Based on last years accidents number and data mapping, we now have access to, we have been able to identify several problems areas. Attached is a heat map of traffic accidents for 2025....glowing red is not good!

A major identified area of accidents is the SW Mustang and 115 intersection, NW Mustang and 176, West 115 and 1910, and West 176 and 1910.

Earlier this week we conducted a two day (8 hour) operation in that area that resulted in 100 traffic stops.....and to squash any rumors less than 10 citations were issued. The goal is to get better!

Out of the total stops: 42 were for stop sign violations and 35 for speeding. Mixing speeding and stop sign violations is not a good combination!

These operations are going to continue, our warning count may not.

We need your help! Slow down, stop and pause, make sure to look both ways at intersections, leave a few minutes earlier, wear your seatbelts, and pay attention!

Be safe this weekend, the roads are predicted to accumulate some amounts of ice, stay warm!

Today we recognize the spouses who live with odd schedules, interrupted holidays, and a radio that never seems to turn off. You provide the support, patience, and steady presence that allows our officers to do their jobs safely and effectively.

Public Information Release:

This morning we received information about a possible school threat. In working with the FBI and Texas Department of Public Safety we were able to establish that the threat originated outside the United States and was not credible to our school district. All of this was coordinated and communicated with AISD administration.

The threat mentioned a school with our name but was deemed to be tied to a Dallas area elementary school with our name.

As always we take these threats seriously, this is why we had additional patrols at the local schools this morning.

The threat being disseminated currently online is the same one we had reviewed earlier this morning.

We will always put the safety of our community forefront and appreciate the community bringing concerns to our attention.

PSA: New Traffic Direction by Andrews High School!!!!!!!

Please see attached photo for the explanation of the reversed "one way" drop off and pick up. This is now in effect.

Do Not Enter the "old one way" entrance from NW 13th and Ave I.
The old entrance is now for exit traffic only!

You can access the visitor parking lot from Ave H or Simpson Strasse.
