POLITICAL SIGNS IN THE PUBLIC RIGHTS-OF-WAY

Election season is in full swing and the signs are everywhere, literally! To help address concerns about campaign signs placed in public rights-of-way (ROW), we’re asking all political campaigns to remove any signs located in the ROW or within sight triangles.

State law and local ordinances require campaign signs to be placed only on private property. Beginning January 22nd, City inspectors will begin issuing notices for signs found in the public ROW by:
1. Posting a written 72-hour notice and a yellow marking flag on the sign, and
2. Marking the approximate limits of the ROW with temporary yellow paint near the sign’s location.

Signs that remain in the ROW after the 72-hour notice may be considered abandoned and impounded by the City.

Mustang Ridge Subdivision-(update)

A long-anticipated step forward in Andrews’ residential growth has officially hit a huge milestone. The “Mustang Ridge Subdivision” plat, along with all infrastructure supporting 120 single-family residential lots, has been officially accepted by the city council and filed with the couny clerk, clearing the way for one of the city’s most significant new housing developments in recent years!

The next step in the process is a pre-development meeting between the Planning & Development Department and the subdivision’s developers. This meeting will finalize timelines, expectations, and next phases of construction.

Soon, you can expect to see new homes being built in Mustang Ridge!

We’re keeping the momentum going in our mission to keep Andrews a safe and thriving community! A huge thank you to the Andrews County Judge and Commissioners Court for their unwavering support and partnership in making our community shine. 2 houses in 2 days might be a record!

This year, the 1100 block of NE 4th Place was chosen as one of the focus areas for our “Love Where You Live” program. While there’s still more work ahead, every bit of progress brings us closer to a safer, cleaner, and more beautiful Andrews.

Let’s keep showing our love for this town! Together, we’re making a difference!

Water outage in NE Andrews

Early this morning the City experienced a water main break at NE Mustang and Ave J. Traffic will be detoured at NE Mustang and Ave K as well as NE Mustang and Ave I.

This will affect school traffic for Clearfork. Please plan accordingly and avoid this area.

Water pressures on the NE side of town will also be affected.

City crews are working diligently to fix this line. We appreciate your patience.

We need your assistance!

Over the past two and a half years, the City of Andrews—working in partnership with Andrews County—has demolished 24 unsafe structures to improve safety and quality of life in our community. The majority of these demolitions were completed with the consent of property owners.

Looking ahead, our efforts are turning toward properties where owners or family members have been unreachable. Because demolishing structures without consent requires a lengthy and costly legal process, locating heirs or individuals with ownership rights is an important step.

For the 2025–2026 program, the City has identified 10 properties, two of which already have owner consent. We are asking for the community’s help in locating any heirs or individuals who may have an ownership interest in the following estates:

**SHIRLEY KECK ESTATE
**LEROY ROBINSON ESTATE
**DAVID E KING ESTATE
**BELINDA CASTILLO ESTATE
**JUANITA GALVAN ESTATE
**FRANKLIN SWINDLE ESTATE
**HARRY ROSS BLACK ESTATE

Your help can make a real difference in cleaning up our neighborhoods and enhancing life in Andrews. If you have contact information about possible heirs to the estates listed above, please reach out to us.

Planning and Development Department at (432) 223-6019
or send us a direct message.

POLITICAL SIGNS IN THE PUBLIC RIGHT-OF-WAY

Signs of being in the full swing of an election year are all around us, literally! To address complaints about improperly placed signs in public right-of-way (ROW), we are requesting all political campaigns immediately remove any signs from public ROW and sight triangles. State law and local ordinances require these signs to be placed on private property. Beginning February 26, City inspectors will be giving notice for signs in the public right-of-way by (1) placing a written 72-hour notice and yellow marking flag on the sign, and (2) marking the approximate bounds of the ROW with yellow marking paint near the sign. Signs still in the public ROW after the 72-hour notice will be considered abandoned and will be picked up by the City.

The Code Compliance Department of the City of Andrews has always been committed to the cleanliness and safety of this community. This year alone our department has issued 258 work orders to clean and mow over 160 acres of properties and we still have a month and a half until October (start of the next fiscal year).

Please keep in mind that when reporting violations our department handles hundreds of complaints weekly in regards to over 100 different codes and that with every code is a due process that sometimes can prevent us from moving swiftly. Your concerns are very important to us and will be addressed appropriately.

We thank you for doing your part to keep our community clean and safe!
