One SAM Fox Airman stepped forward to document his encounters with the elusive local resident roaming Joint Base Andrews.

While the investigation continues, across the 89th Airlift Wing, catching a glimpse of our namesake red fox is more than just a rare sighting—it’s considered a good omen for the mission ahead.

With Foxtoberfest and the SAM Fox Association Reunion arriving September 17–18, our heritage and good fortune have never been stronger.

The evidence? Indisputable.
The legend? Alive and well.
Good fortune? Absolutely.

"You don't have to get ready if you stay ready." ✈️🇺🇸

This week, the 89th Airlift Wing hosted our new Air Mobility Command leadership, U.S. Air Force Lt. Gen. Daniel Tulley, AMC commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Raun Howell, AMC command chief, as the very first stop on their command tour.

During an all-call and small-group roundtables, AMC’s command team spoke directly with our SAM Fox Airmen. Whether on the flightline fixing aircraft, in the cockpit flying the mission, or providing mission support behind the scenes, every Airman in this wing plays a vital role in generating airpower and delivering diplomacy for our nation.

This week, the SAM Fox team and the CanDo wing of the 305th Air Mobility Wing joined forces to inspire the next generation during a Civil Air Patrol event at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.

More than 200 cadets explored Air Mobility Command aircraft, met the people behind the mission and experienced firsthand how mobility Airmen deliver global reach, strengthen partnerships and answer the nation's call.

While serving as the premier staging hub for one of the largest aerial demonstrations in U.S. history, the SAM Fox team simultaneously sustained its core mission: delivering diplomacy and executive airlift without missing a beat. Behind the scenes, our elite Airmen pushed through extreme heat and severe weather to keep operations moving.

In case you missed it, the SAM Fox team completely knocked it out of the park during the historic Freedom 250 celebration!

As America’s Airfield, the 89th Airlift Wing provided world-class airfield, staging, and logistics support to transient assets descending upon the National Capital Region. A diverse complement of joint-service aircraft filled the flightline, showcasing the incredible precision, readiness, and global reach of the air mobility enterprise.
