New leadership. Unmatched global impact.

Today, the 89th Aerial Port Squadron marked a major leadership transition during their Change of Command ceremony.

Col Gary W. Charland, Jr. presided over the event, honoring Lt Col Stefan D. Hafner for his exceptional leadership of the Air Force's most visible aerial port over the last two years. From historic national events to critical global missions, Lt Col Hafner ensured absolute precision and operational excellence every step of the way.

We proudly welcome Lt Col Joshua P. McNelley as the new commander of the 89th APS. He takes the helm at a pivotal time, ready to carry forward the SAM Fox legacy and lead our global executive transportation mission into the future.

New lights. Same flawless standard.

The 89th Airlift Wing recently recognized four outstanding 316th Civil Engineer Squadron team members for their exceptional performance on a hangar lighting upgrade.

Staff Sgt. Josef Richardson, Staff Sgt. Louis Davis, Airman 1st Class Jehan Mungyeh, and Mr. Edward Smith earned commander's coins for replacing legacy fixtures with high-efficiency technology. Their hard work directly improves facility safety and reliability, keeping critical maintenance operations running 24/7 without interruption.

Yesterday, the 89th Airlift Wing marked another important leadership transition as the 89th Operations Group held its Change of Command Ceremony.

Presided over by Col Chris Robinson, the ceremony recognized Col Kevin Eley's leadership, dedication and commitment to the SAM Fox Airmen and mission of the 89 OG. His focus on operational excellence and taking care of Airmen has helped shape the culture and ensure mission success around the globe. 🌎

As we thank Col Eley for his service and leadership, we are proud to welcome Col Brandon Westling as the new commander of the 89th Operations Group. With a legacy of excellence behind him and a world class team beside him, Col Westling assumes command at a pivotal time as the group continues to set the standard for executive airlift, connect leaders across the globe, advance American diplomacy and deliver the mission wherever it is called. ✈️

As Change of Command season gets underway across the 89th Airlift Wing, the 89th Operations Support Squadron marked the first of several leadership transitions with a Change of Command Ceremony last Friday.

We extend our sincere thanks to Lt Col Van Valen for his leadership, dedication and unwavering commitment to the Airmen and mission of the 89 OSS. His impact on the squadron has been significant, and we wish him nothing but success in his next chapter.

At the same time, we are excited to welcome Lt Col Hall as the new commander of the 89 OSS. We look forward to the leadership, vision and experience he brings as the squadron continues to support the mission of the 89th Airlift Wing.
