RSM Andover

RSM Andover RSM-Andover is a branch of the Russian School of Mathematics, an award winning, after-school math program for K-12 students.

Since 1997, RSM has helped children develop math fluency, intellect, and character, empowering them for life. Russian School of Mathematics is an after school education program for children in grades K-12 that offers top-quality instruction in mathematics. RSM Andover opened in 2010 in response to the growing demand for after-school math enrichment program from families throughout northern Massach

usetts and southern New Hampshire. Our mission is to create an atmosphere of learning that is both challenging and exciting; to teach kids to think logically and critically; to give kids the confidence they need to love and understand mathematics.

From RSM to Cornell University’s College of Engineering, Ritika Roy’s journey is a wonderful example of where curiosity, perseverance, and a strong mathematical foundation can lead.

Ritika shares that her experience at RSM helped her develop strong problem-solving skills, taught her how to approach challenging problems, and most importantly, helped her learn to love mathematics. Her favorite part of the program? The challenge problems that pushed her to think deeper and look at problems in new ways.

Today, Ritika says she feels more confident in math than many of her college peers — a skill she continues to carry with her at Cornell.

Her advice to current RSM students is simple and powerful:

✨ Everything is figure-outable. ✨

We are incredibly proud of Ritika and all she has accomplished since her RSM days. Her story is a wonderful reminder that the skills students develop today can open doors to exciting opportunities tomorrow.

💙💚 Keep learning. Keep challenging yourself. Keep believing that every problem has a way forward.

Our interns just wrapped up RSM’s first-ever Summer Internship Program, and it was a grand success!
These interns are also current and former RSM students, some of whom have been with us since 2nd grade. For years, they’ve experienced RSM from the classroom. This summer, they had the opportunity to see it from a whole new perspective: from the inside.
Working alongside our HQ teams, they gained hands-on experience in market analysis, digital campaigns, software development, business processes, and more, putting their skills into practice beyond the classroom.
We’re so proud of everything they accomplished and loved having their energy, curiosity, and fresh ideas at HQ this summer!

Every competition is an opportunity to learn, grow, and push beyond your limits. This year, Tanvi Nilawar demonstrated exactly that by earning recognition in both the AMC 8 and the International Mathematics Contest (IMC). These achievements reflect the determination, discipline, and mathematical thinking she has developed during her 3 years at RSM.

Whether tackling challenging proofs or unfamiliar competition problems, Tanvi approaches each new challenge with preparation and confidence, a mindset that has contributed to her success.

💡 Tanvi's advice to younger students:
"Solve practice tests available online."

Becoming familiar with competition-style questions is one of the best ways to strengthen problem-solving skills, improve time management, and build confidence before test day.

Congratulations, Tanvi, on an outstanding year of achievement. We are proud to celebrate your accomplishments and look forward to seeing all that you will achieve in the future.

One of our goals at RSM is to instill in our students a mathematical mindset. This means helping our students develop:

- The ability to reason
- The ability to navigate the abstract
- A strong intellectual character, built from persisting through challenging problems

A mathematical mindset not only results in strong math skills, but also self-assured students. Students who are repeatedly shown that their reasoning, understanding, and taste for persistence give them the confidence to solve extremely challenging concepts. Outstanding results across multiple math competitions require more than talent; they reflect years of discipline, curiosity, and a commitment to continuous learning.

After 6 years at RSM, Archisha Niyogi celebrated an exceptional competition season, earning recognition in the AMC 8, International Mathematics Contest (IMC), and Purple Comet! Math Meet. Her accomplishments showcase not only strong mathematical knowledge but also the ability to think critically, adapt to new challenges, and apply creative problem-solving strategies.

💡 Archisha's advice to younger students:
"Solving past years' problems helps a lot in AMC contests."

Regularly practicing previous competition problems is an effective way to recognize patterns, strengthen reasoning skills, and build confidence for future competitions.

Congratulations, Archisha, on an outstanding year of achievement. Your dedication and perseverance continue to inspire the RSM community, and we look forward to celebrating your future successes.

Over the past 6 years at RSM, Navya Binani has developed exceptional problem-solving skills through hard work, dedication, and a passion for mathematics. This year, her efforts paid off with outstanding achievements in both the AMC 8 and MOEMS (Mathematical Olympiads for Elementary and Middle Schools).

The AMC 8 is one of the nation's most prestigious middle school math competitions, while MOEMS challenges students with creative, non-routine problems that require logical thinking and perseverance. Navya's success in both competitions highlights her strong mathematical foundation and ability to excel under challenging conditions.

💡 Navya's advice to younger students:
"Practice and consistency are the key."

Her journey is a reminder that meaningful progress comes from showing up, practicing regularly, and never giving up on a difficult problem.

Congratulations, Navya, on your outstanding accomplishments! We are proud to celebrate your achievements and wish you continued success in the years ahead.

What happens when hard work meets the right preparation?

For Lucas Yijun Li, the answer is an outstanding 18 on his very first AMC 8 as a sixth grader.

At RSM MetroWest, Lucas has challenged himself through competition math, geometry, and algebra, building the analytical thinking and problem-solving skills needed to excel in high-level mathematics. His achievement is a testament to the power of consistent practice and a strong mathematical foundation.

One lesson Lucas has learned along the way is that growth doesn't come from getting everything right; it comes from learning when things go wrong.

💡 "Don't be afraid of making mistakes. Understand why they happen and learn from them."

That mindset is at the heart of every great mathematician. Every mistake is an opportunity to think deeper, improve, and come back stronger.

Congratulations, Lucas, on your impressive accomplishment! We're excited to watch your mathematical journey continue.
