POSITION AVAILABLE
Transfer Station Attendant: Part time fill-in position for the Town of Andes Transfer Station. Hours are Wednesdays and Saturdays from 7AM-3PM.

Applicants may request an application from the Town Clerk's Office 115 Delaware ave Andes NY 13731 or at [email protected]. Applications will be received through September 25th. The Town of Andes is an equal opportunity Provider and Employer.

The Andes Transfer Station will be closed Saturday July 4th for Independence Day, and open Monday July 6th. We also have a new tire bin at the Transfer Station for old tires.

The Andes Memorial Day Celebration with the traditional parade and ceremony at Bohlmann Park will be held on May 25th. The parade will stage at Allison Oil on Upper Main Street at 10AM with the parade taking place at approximately 10:30. Andes Veterans will lead the parade with participation from the Andes Fire Department and Andes Emergency Squad. Children who would like to be involved are encouraged to walk or to decorate their bikes and ride in the parade. Veterans are encouraged to march or ride and are asked to show up at the staging area that morning. Anyone wishing to be in the parade should contact John Bouton at 845-676-4529. The parade will continue to Bohlmann Park for the ceremony and traditional salute. The Presbyterian Church will also hold their annual take out Brook's Chicken Barbecue starting at 1PM.

DJ Tito brings the fun to The Andes Hotel every other Friday. Pick your song and take the stage. Sing with friends and strangers who will become friends. Karaoke is always free and all are welcome. Takes place in the tavern around 8pm every other Friday night.

With the upcoming weather temperature dipping into the single digits, keeping a slow drip on a faucet furthest away from the water source will keep your pipes from bursting. The constantly moving water makes it harder for the water to freeze and doesn't allow pressure to build up incase it does.

Other tips on How to Prevent Frozen Pipes:

Keep garage doors closed if there are water supply lines in the garage.

Open kitchen and bathroom cabinet doors to allow warmer air to circulate around the plumbing. Be sure to move any harmful cleaners and household chemicals up out of the reach of children.

Let the cold water drip from the faucet served by exposed pipes. Running water through the pipe - even at a trickle - helps prevent pipes from freezing.

Keep the thermostat set to the same temperature both during the day and at night. By temporarily suspending the use of lower nighttime temperatures, you may incur a higher heating bill, but you can prevent a much more costly repair job if pipes freeze and burst.

If you will be going away during cold weather, leave the heat on in your home, set to a temperature no lower than 55° F.
