On Friday, September 11, 2026, Judge Mark Dudley sentenced Daniel Manning (39 of Anderson) to a total sentence of fifty (50) years with forty (40) years executed at the Indiana Department of Correction and ten (10) years suspended to probation. The Court also ordered Manning to register as a s*x offender for life and found Manning to be a s*xually violent predator.

On August 14, 2026, Manning pleaded guilty as charged pursuant to a plea agreement to two counts of Child Mo**sting, Level 1 felonies, two counts of Child Mo**sting, Level 4 felonies, two counts of Sexual Misconduct with a Minor, Level 4 felonies, and two counts of Sexual Misconduct with a Minor, level 5 felonies.

The State's case was presented by Deputy Prosecutor Dan Kopp. The case was investigated by Det. Matt Kopp of the Anderson Police Department.

On September 9, 2026, following a two-day trial, a Madison County Circuit 4 jury found Demarcus Henning (48 of Indianapolis) guilty of Possession of Methamphetamine, a Level 5 felony, and Resisting Law Enforcement, a Class A misdemeanor. Following the jury's verdict, Henning admitted to being a Habitual Offender.

Judge Happe set Henning's sentencing for October 13, 2026, where he faces a sentence of 1-6 years on the underlying conviction of Possession of a Methamphetamine, a Level 5 felony, which can be enhanced by a period of 2-6 years due to Henning's criminal history for a maximum possible sentence of 12 years.

At trial, the State's case was presented by Deputy Prosecutors Tyler Piraino and Jacob Bradshaw. The case was investigated by Deputy Blake Callahan of the Madison County Sheriff's Department.

On August 28, 2026, following a three-day trial, a Madison County Circuit Court 1 jury found Nathaniel Lange (40 of Anderson) guilty of one count of Child Mo**sting, a Level 4 felony. Following the jury's verdict, Judge Angela Warner Sims remanded Lange to the Madison County Jail and set sentencing for Monday, October 5, 2026, at 10:00 am. Under Indiana law, a Level 4 felony carries a possible sentence of 2-12 years.

At trial, the State's case was presented by Deputy Prosecutors Dan Kopp and Jon Jones. The case was investigated by Officer Jason Girt of the Edgewood Police Department.

08/21/2026

On Friday, August 21, 2026, a Madison County Circuit Court IV jury found Matthew Deprez (41 of Elwood) guilty of two counts of Child Mo**st as Level 4 felonies. Following the jury's verdict, Judge David Happe remanded Deprez into the custody of the Madison County Sheriff's Department and scheduled his sentencing for September 22, 2026, where he faces a possible sentence of 2-24 years.

At trial, the State's case was presented by Deputy Prosecutors Grainne Kao and Tyler Piraino. The case was investigated by Det. Caitlin Morency of the Madison County Sheriff's Department.

Det. Garcia was recognized for her exceptional investigative work and exemplary court testimony in the homicide investigation of Dayla Swain. Her proactive approach, thorough preparation, and professionalism were instrumental in the arrest and successful prosecution of the case.

⚠️ SCAM ALERT ⚠️
Fraudulent Calls Regarding Jail Bonds

We have received several reports of a recent scam in which individuals are calling members of the public, falsely identifying themselves as law enforcement officers, and claiming that money must be sent to post bond for a friend or family member who is incarcerated at the Madison County Jail.

These scams can be especially convincing because the caller mentions the name of someone who is actually incarcerated.

While we are actively investigating these reports of fraud, we post to clarify that in Madison County, a bond can ONLY be posted through the Madison County Clerk’s Office or the Madison County Jail.

Law enforcement will never call you and instruct you to send bond money through Cash App, Venmo, or another payment app, and you will never be asked to wire money to post a bond.

If you receive a suspicious call, do not send money or provide financial information. Instead, independently contact the Madison County Jail or the Madison County Clerk’s Office to verify any information regarding an inmate or bond.

Today, our friends and partners at Kids Talk Child Advocacy Center were finally able to get inside their building and see firsthand the devastating damage caused by flooding.

Sadly, their experience is not unique. Families and businesses throughout Madison County are dealing with significant damage and loss. Our thoughts are with everyone who has been affected during this incredibly difficult time, and we are grateful for the first responders, volunteers, and countless others who continue working to help our community recover.

Kids Talk is an indispensable partner to the Madison County Prosecutor’s Office and to law enforcement throughout our community. For hundreds of children every year, it provides a safe and welcoming place during the most difficult moments of their lives. Their work has been critical to protecting children, holding offenders accountable, and helping families begin the process of healing.

The damage is extensive, but Kids Talk is more than a building.

Even while facing this loss, their team will continue serving children and families from temporary locations provided by police departments across the county.

So many throughout Madison County are beginning the difficult work of rebuilding. Kids Talk will be doing the same, and we know our community will continue doing what it always does in difficult times, coming together and helping one another.

There is a tremendous amount of work ahead for our entire community. But children still need Kids Talk, and Kids Talk will still be there for them.

We are proud to stand with them, and with everyone across Madison County working to recover and rebuild.

Our thoughts are with everyone across Madison County who have been affected by significant flooding over the past several days. Many of our neighbors are dealing with damage to their homes, businesses, and property.

We also want to express our sincere gratitude to the first responders, law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency management personnel, utility crews, wastewater treatment professionals, and countless others who have worked tirelessly throughout this flooding. They have spent long hours responding to emergencies, assisting residents, closing dangerous roadways, and helping keep our community safe.

In times like these, we are reminded that difficult moments always bring out the very best in our community. Madison County has never failed to show compassion, resilience, and a willingness to step up for one another when it matters most.
