Benchmark Family Services, Inc. was established in 1994 and is a private, faith based, non-profit, therapeutic foster care agency.

Our mission is to license therapeutic foster homes in the following counties: Hamilton, Madison, Delaware, Grant, Blackford, Jay, Rush, Wayne, Tipton, Howard and Henry. Our purpose is to provide stable and caring homes for youth in need of out-of-home care. Benchmark Family Services, Inc. services children who have been removed from their homes by the Department of Children’s Services (DCS) due to neglect, physical, sexual, and/or emotional abuse suffered in their biological home. Most of the children served by Benchmark are experiencing behavioral, emotional, and/or mental health problems as a result of being abused or neglected and receive therapy either on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. Additionally, some children are under the care of a psychiatrist and receive medications to manage their mental health needs. Why Choose Benchmark? Each foster care family with weekly contact with their case manager, including a minimum of two home visits per month
24 hour/7 day a week emergency cell phone access to a case manager in the event of a crisis
Respite care for foster children when needed
Premium financial compensation to support the needs of youth placed in the home

Let's talk licensing!

On your journey to licensure, the following are key check-points:

1. Make the call - If you've been thinking about becoming a foster parent, call us and get scheduled for an orientation where we'll answer all of your burning questions!

2. Training - Attend 20 hours of in-house therapeutic training and CPR/FA at no cost to you!

3. Paperwork - It wouldn't be foster care without the paperwork! Complete background checks, financial forms, medical appointments, questionnaires, and fill out all state-required forms. Don't worry, we're there to help!

4. Home Study - Complete three home visits with one of our trained licensing workers. Based on these visits and your paperwork, our licensing specialist will write up a home study for you to review.

5. Licensed & Placement Calls - Once you approve of your home study, we submit it to the state, and you're licensed! Post-licensure expect LOTS of calls for placements!
