Don’t be fooled by mislabeled porcelain.
True porcelain tile is a type of ceramic with a water absorption rate of 0.5% or less, making it highly resistant to moisture, wear, and even freezing temperatures — perfect for outdoor areas, bathrooms, kitchens, and commercial spaces.

You can’t always tell just by looking though, and mislabeling is common, which can lead to failed installations, costly repairs, and liability issues.

The Porcelain Tile Certification Agency (PTCA) helps prevent these challenges by verifying that products truly meet porcelain standards. Look for the PTCA Certification Mark for confidence you’re getting genuine porcelain tile.
