A few schedule reminders to prepare for next week:

🔴 Monday: No School in honor of Labor Day
🟢 Tuesday: After-school tutoring begins! Tutoring runs until 4:00 PM, and activity buses are available for students who need transportation home.
🔴 Wednesday: Early Release Day — no tutoring or activity buses
🟢 Thursday: After-school tutoring & activity buses
🔴 Friday: E-Learning Day (see schedule below)

Our tutoring program offers support in English, Math, Science, Social Studies, ENL, Credit Recovery, and Study Skills. Students can attend Session 1 from 2:45–3:20 or Session 2 from 3:25–4:00.

Students riding an activity bus should report to the south exit by 4:05 PM. Activity buses use designated community drop-off locations rather than students' regular home stops.

We hope everyone enjoys the long weekend, and we'll see everyone on Tuesday!

School Smiles will be coming to AHS on Tuesday, September 29th. See the images below for more information.

Dear AHS Families,

Anderson High School’s FREE After-School Tutoring Program begins Tuesday, September 8! Tutoring is available after school until 4:00 PM and is designed to give students additional academic support, a quiet place to complete schoolwork, and access to teachers who can help when they are struggling.

There is no cost and no sign-up required. Students simply report to one of the designated tutoring classrooms after school.

Tutoring is available in English, Math, Science, Social Studies, ENL, Credit Recovery, and Study Skills, depending on the day.

NEW THIS YEAR: Study Skills!
We are especially excited to offer Study Skills as part of our tutoring program. This session will help students develop valuable skills related to studying, organization, preparing for tests, and becoming more successful high school students. While all students are welcome, we especially encourage our freshmen to take advantage of this opportunity as they adjust to the expectations of high school.

A Few Important Expectations
Students who remain after school for tutoring must be actively completing schoolwork or receiving academic assistance in one of our designated tutoring classrooms. After-school tutoring is not a place for students to simply hang out or socialize. Students who do not follow tutoring procedures or school expectations may lose the privilege of staying after school.

Students do not need to see their own classroom teacher in order to receive help. For example, if your student needs help with Algebra but their Algebra teacher is not tutoring that day, they may receive assistance from the Math teacher who is available. The same applies to English, Science, and Social Studies.

Transportation Is Available
AHS will provide activity buses for students who stay for tutoring. These buses do not follow students' regular bus routes and will not drop students off at their homes. Instead, they stop at designated locations throughout the community, providing families with a more convenient option for students to walk home or be picked up rather than picking up at AHS.

Students riding an activity bus must report to the south exit by 4:05 PM. Buses will leave promptly at 4:05 PM. Students who are being picked up at AHS must have transportation arrive no later than 4:15 PM.

When Is Tutoring Available?
Tutoring is generally offered Monday–Thursday, with subjects varying by day. Please note:

No tutoring on Early Release Wednesdays
No tutoring on the first Monday of each month due to staff meetings (September's meeting will take place on 9/14)
Weekly tutoring reminders and schedules will be shared through ParentSquare and AHS social media
We encourage families to talk with their students about taking advantage of this free resource. Whether a student needs help understanding a difficult concept, wants assistance completing assignments, needs support with Credit Recovery, or simply wants to become a stronger student, we’re here to help!

Please see the attached Tutoring Schedule and Activity Bus Schedule for additional information.

Thank you,
AHS Admin Team

Introducing the AHS Student Council Spirit Closet!
Student Council is excited to open a new Spirit Closet to make it easier for ALL students to participate in AHS spirit days!

Located in A108, just outside the lunchroom, the Spirit Closet will allow students to “shop” for clothing and accessories to borrow for spirit days—at no cost. Whether a student needs a last-minute item, can’t find something for a theme, or purchasing new spirit wear isn’t an option, we want everyone to be able to join in the fun!

Now we need your help to stock it!

Student Council will be purchasing items, but we are also accepting new or gently used donations from our AHS families and community. Items for ANY future spirit day are welcome!

With Homecoming coming up, we are especially looking for items for this year’s themes:

Dynamic Duos
Soccer Moms vs. BBQ Dads
Decades Day
Color Wars: Pink, Blue/Teal, Purple & Orange
Red & Green Day

Have an old Hawaiian shirt? A brightly colored T-shirt? Retro clothes or accessories? Jerseys, hats, sunglasses, f***y packs, costume pieces, or something else that could help create a great spirit-day outfit? We’d love to give it a second life!

Donations can be dropped off at Anderson High School for Mrs. Sylvia or Mr. Dick.

Help us fill the Spirit Closet and make sure every student has the opportunity to show their AHS spirit!

Thank you, South Side High School, for your generosity during our city's time of need! Last week, Athletic Director Torrey Curry asked football spectators to donate water, sports drinks, or canned food instead of purchasing a ticket, and the Ft. Wayne and Huntington North communities showed up! Last night, Mr. Curry delivered the items, and with help from the football and boys soccer teams, these donations are ready to go!
AHS remains grateful for the outpouring of support for our students and community!
