From Memorial Day through Labor Day, traffic fatalities across the country increase dramatically — especially among teen drivers. With school out, more vehicles on the road, vacations, distractions, speeding, impaired driving, and lack of seatbelt use all contribute to this dangerous time of year.

The Anderson County Office of the Coroner urges everyone to make safety a priority this summer:

🚗 Buckle your seatbelt
📵 Put the phone down while driving
🚫 Never drive impaired
⚠️ Slow down and stay alert
👀 Watch for motorcycles, pedestrians, and children at play

One poor decision can change lives forever.

Help us make this summer safe for everyone. Protect yourself, your family, and others on the road.

A huge thank you to all the incredible partners who joined us today for a powerful educational demonstration!

We spent the morning showing our students the real-world dangers of distracted driving and driving under the influence.

This event wasn't just about safety; it was a chance for our students to see the dedication of our local first responders and the vital role each agency plays in our community.

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

🚨 COMMUNITY NOTICE 🚨

On Friday, May 8th at approximately 9:30 AM, the Anderson County Office of the Coroner will be participating in a joint training exercise at Belton Middle School alongside Belton Fire Department, Anderson County Sheriff's Office SC, South Carolina Department of Public Safety, Medshore Ambulance Service, Anderson County EMS, and LifeFlight.

This mock wreck simulation is designed to educate students on the very real dangers of drinking and driving, texting and driving, and the importance of making safe choices behind the wheel.

To make the exercise as realistic as possible, the incident will be dispatched over emergency radio traffic and emergency responders will travel from Town Hall to the school with lights and sirens activated. If you see a large emergency response presence in the area during this time, please be aware this is only a simulation and there is no active emergency.

We appreciate the partnership of all participating agencies and the support of the community as we work together to educate and protect our youth.

💚 Mental Health Monday 💚

Mental health matters—every single day, for every single person.

No matter your age, race, gender, job, or story… your mental health is important. Some days feel heavy, and that’s okay. You don’t have to carry it alone. Some days you may think that you can't handle any more, reach out to someone for help. Tomorrow will be here soon.

Check in with yourself today:
✨ Have you taken a moment to breathe?
✨ Have you reached out to someone you trust?
✨ Have you shown yourself a little grace?

Check in on others today:
✨ Have you checked on your friends who seem "ok"?
✨ Do your friends know that they can come to you to talk?

Let’s break the stigma by talking about it, supporting one another, and reminding people that it’s okay to ask for help.

You are not alone. You are seen. You matter. 💚

🧠💚 Mental Health Awareness

Mental health affects everyone—regardless of age, race, gender, background, income, or social status. It doesn’t discriminate, and neither should compassion.

Behind every smile could be a silent struggle. Behind every strong exterior could be someone doing their best to hold it together. Mental health is part of being human, and every person deserves understanding, support, and access to care.

Let’s break the stigma:
• It’s okay to not be okay
• It’s okay to ask for help
• It’s okay to talk about it

Check in on your people. Be kind. Listen without judgment. You never know whose life your words might impact.

You are not alone. 💚

This May, during Mental Health Awareness Month, we pause to recognize a hard truth in Anderson County—11 lives have already been lost to su***de this year.

Each number represents a person, a family, and a story that matters.

You are not alone. There is help. There is hope.
Let’s check on one another, speak up, and support those who may be struggling in silence. 💚

If you or someone you know needs support, call or text 988.

Help us support the family of injured Anderson County Sheriff's Deputy Alex Albrecht. Deputy Albrecht is still on the road to recovery after being injured during a traffic stop last week along I-85.
Thanks to the swift actions of his fellow deputies and first responders, his life was saved. Now, he faces ongoing treatment, rehabilitation and time away from work as he heals.
This fundraiser has been created to support Deputy Alex Albrecht and his family during this challenging time. Contributions will help ease the financial burden as he focuses on recovery.

Serve & Connect is proud to partner with the SC Police Chiefs Association, South Carolina Troopers Association, South Carolina Law Enforcement Officers' Association, SC Sheriffs' Association, SC Fraternal Order of Police and Anderson County Sheriff's Office to raise funds for Deputy Albrecht's family and recovery.

If you would like to help, donations can be made through: https://form-renderer-app.donorperfect.io/give/serve-and-connect/k9-officer
100% of funds raised will go directly to his family.
