🛍️ Edgewood Town-Wide Rummage Sale is tomorrow but many are having sales today as well🛍️

As you head out to shop for great deals throughout Edgewood, please help us keep our community safe.

🚨 Please don’t block the roadways so emergency vehicles can get through. A few extra feet can make all the difference when firefighters, police officers, or paramedics are responding to an emergency.

Here are a few simple safety reminders:
🚗 Drive slowly through neighborhoods and be prepared to stop.
🚶 Watch for pedestrians, children, and pets, as they may unexpectedly cross the street.
🚙 Never block driveways, intersections, fire hydrants, or mailboxes.
👀 Check carefully before backing out of driveways or parking spaces.
🤝 Be courteous and patient with homeowners, shoppers, and fellow drivers.
💵 If you’re hosting a sale, keep cash and valuables secure.

🚨 TORNADO WATCH ISSUED 🚨

The National Weather Service has issued a Tornado Watch for Madison County, which will remain in effect until 1:00 AM EDT Thursday.

Please remain weather aware and be prepared to take action if conditions worsen.

Safety Tips:
• Have multiple ways to receive weather alerts, including a NOAA Weather Radio and wireless emergency alerts on your phone.
• Identify a safe shelter location, preferably a basement or an interior room on the lowest level of your home, away from windows.
• Charge your cell phones and keep flashlights readily available.
• If a Tornado Warning is issued or a tornado is spotted, seek shelter immediately.
• Avoid unnecessary travel during severe weather.

Continue to monitor trusted weather sources for updates and stay prepared.

Weather update as of 4:34pm. Edgewood is not out of the woods for severe weather. Please be weather aware tonight.

Update to timing and location of risks. Severe storms likely starting by early evening with all hazards possible, including damaging winds, large hail, and strong tornadoes. The corridor of greatest tornado threat includes much of the I-70 corridor including the Indianapolis Metro Area. The timing of greatest tornado threat is 8 PM to 12 AM. Have a safety plan in place and be ready to act when severe weather is imminent.

Most of Central Indiana is under a severe weather threat through 11pm this evening. Primary risks include damaging wind in excess of 60mph, hail over 1 inch in diameter, and localized flooding. Tornadoes cannot be ruled out.

Power update (3:30pm Saturday): Light and power is still showing approximately 68 residents without power. They are continuing to work around the area to restore power to many that lost power. Please continue to be patient.

Power update (7:00pm). With the amazing work of the power company the town is now down to approximately 80 residents without power.

⚡ Power Update (5:50 PM)

Power crews continue working throughout the area to restore service as quickly and safely as possible. The Edgewood Fire Department is currently responding to another report of a downed power line.

We appreciate everyone’s patience as utility crews work in challenging conditions and high temperatures. Many of these dedicated workers have been away from their families for extended periods while assisting with restoration efforts.

Please continue to avoid downed power lines and report emergencies to 911. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.
