A group of Westminster College students traveled to Alaska to serve, and we were honored to host them at Fresh International Gardens (FIG).

They dug, hauled mulch, and tended the soil alongside our team. A few hours of work left the garden better than it was when they found it. Every pair of hands that showed up made a big difference.

If you or your group are looking for a way to give back to our community, we'd love to welcome you! Please visit: https://www.cssalaska.org/get-involved/volunteer/

This Memorial Day, we pause to honor and remember the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country. Their sacrifice is a lasting reminder of courage, selflessness, and the deep responsibility we share to care for one another with compassion and gratitude.

While our shelters continue operating 24/7/365, our Main Office, St. Francis House Food Pantry, and 3rd Avenue Resource & Navigation Center are closed today in observance of the holiday.

We want to extend a huge thank you to the Providence Alaska HR team for rolling up their sleeves and helping clean up the Clare House playground yesterday!

Their energy, teamwork, and commitment to serving our community made a big impact, and we are so grateful for their continued partnership with Catholic Social Services. Because of volunteers like these, families staying at Clare House can enjoy a welcoming and refreshed outdoor space for children to play and grow.

Thank you, Providence Alaska, for showing what community care and service truly look like!

This month, students in our Refugee Assistance & Immigration Services School Impact Program came together for senior portraits and a well-deserved celebration as graduation approaches.

Thanks to the creativity and care of one of our amazing RSI specialists, students enjoyed professional photos alongside a fun-filled day with pizza, snacks, cookies, movies, and even a bubble machine! The turnout was incredible, and the RSI team is already excited to make this an annual tradition.

We’re so proud of these students and grateful for the community that continues to encourage and uplift them along the way. Congratulations, seniors! Your future is bright!

We want to extend a huge thank you to Anchorage Greens for their generosity!

They recently donated fresh crops to support the Brother Francis SNAP program and will continue to support it with ongoing weekly donations! This does more than just provide fresh, healthy food for our clients; it also provides real-world job training! Using these crops, BFS hopes to start growing a garden to give back to our community and help teach our clients important skills along the way.

Thank you, Anchorage Greens, for all you do for our community. Together, we can make a healthier Alaska.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month! This is a time to recognize the importance of caring for our mental and emotional well-being, and to remind one another that no one has to walk through life’s challenges alone.

At Catholic Social Services, our Behavioral Health Services support individuals and families through compassionate, person-centered care rooted in dignity, hope, and community. Whether someone is seeking support, healing, or simply needing a safe place to be heard, our team is honored to walk alongside them.

Our mission is to promote the physical, spiritual, and mental welfare of persons in need in the community, and we see that mission lived out every day through our amazing BHS team.

At Grow North Farm, we believe local markets are about more than food; they’re about neighbors coming together, sharing their gifts, and building a stronger community rooted in care and dignity.

We’re excited to welcome vendors for the 2026 Grow North Farmers Market season! Whether you create handmade goods, prepare hot foods, craft specialty teas, or preserve homemade treats, we invite you to be part of this vibrant space of connection and hope.

Our vendor application is now live, along with the 2026 Market Policy Handbook. We’re grateful for every local maker, grower, and small business that helps nourish our community.
