Power Center at Alaska Behavioral Health

Power Center at Alaska Behavioral Health The POWER Center is a youth program that provides street-based and drop-in center outreach services for homeless, at-risk, and transition-age youth.

Together we create a space where youth feel safe and improve upon their social and emotional well-being. POWER Center offers the chance for a healthier life to young people who have little or no family support, often have quit school, may suffer from abuse or addiction, and have no place to go but the streets. Through the POWER Center in midtown Anchorage, we reach out to youth, offering a caring

environment and information that can help them make good decisions in their lives. At POWER Center, young people who have overcome their own challenges learn how to help others by becoming peer counselors. POWER Center forms partnerships with other organizations to increase the opportunity for success for youth. What we don’t provide, others often do. This approach keeps POWER focused on its core purpose and values and stretches resources. We becomes the bridge between a troubled and neglected teen and a better life.

Don’t forget, we will be hosting our first after-school Peer Support group today. We will be painting fall scenery while supporting young people in building mindfulness skills, expressing themselves through art, developing positive leisure habits for overall well-being, and strengthening social connection with peers.

If you can’t make it today, don’t worry. We will be hosting this after-school group every Thursday from 4:30–6:00 pm.

We’d like to remind our community that the POWER Center is still here and still serving youth every week!

We continue to offer a safe, welcoming space for young people to learn, connect, and have fun. Youth have access to free lunches, clothing, hygiene items, laundry, and showers for those who need them.

✨ New this fall: we’ve added an evening group on Thursdays to better fit the school year schedule!

Weekly Groups:
🧠 Social Skills – Thursdays, 2:30–4 PM
🎨 Art – Wednesdays, 2:30–4 PM
🧁 Baking – Tuesdays, 2–4 PM
🍳 Cooking – Fridays, 2–4 PM
🌙 New: Thursday Evening Group – 4:30–6 PM (rotating topics)

Drop-In Hours: 11 AM–5 PM

Did you know we have free shower 🚿, laundry , kitchen 🍴 and computer 💻facilities?

Our drop in center is normally open for youth ages 13-23, but for the next few weeks, families with children of any age who have been impacted by the storms are welcome to come by the POWER Center, to access resources or just have a place to hang out and play some games! 🎲

We're open Monday - Friday 11m - 5 pm at 2601 Arctic Boulevard in Anchorage.

Thank you to everyone who put out food for the Letter Carriers food drive today! We receive food from this drive each year to help keep our kitchen and food pantry stocked.

We’re open Monday - Friday, 11-5 for youth ages 13-23 at 2601 Arctic Blvd. They can come make food in the kitchen and grab a bag to take home.
