On July 3rd, the U.S. House voted to approve the largest cuts to Medicaid in history. These cuts threaten affordable health insurance for millions, including many Alaskans who rely on Medicaid for vital services such as cancer treatment, mental health care, and access to specialists, particularly in our remote communities.

The impact of these cuts will be widespread, affecting many who already face significant barriers to healthcare.

To get a better understanding of these effects and answer your questions, we’re hosting the What's Next? ACS CAN Alaska Medicaid Campaign Wrap Up & Next Steps Conversation on July 28th at 5:30 p.m. AKDT.

Let’s discuss what we need to watch for moving forward and what we can do together to help protect the health of our communities.

This week, Congress voted to pass a bill that will cut health care for millions, including the biggest cuts to in history.

ACS CAN advocates like you fought hard to oppose these cuts. Even though the result is painful, your efforts mattered. While these cuts are deep and the harm will be significant, because of your advocacy, we fought off deeper cuts and additional damaging policies that would have put affordable health care even further out of reach.

To learn more about the bill and what it means for cancer patients, tap the link in our bio to RSVP for a virtual event TODAY July 10th. You'll hear from ACS CAN’s President and other experts on the impact you made and what happens next.

Thank you for everything you do in the fight against cancer.

The passage of the budget bill will rip health coverage away from millions, including cancer patients and survivors.

The bill cuts more than $1 trillion from Medicaid, putting 12 million people at risk of losing their health insurance. Cancer patients will face delays in treatment and screenings, leading to more late-stage diagnoses. Congress must act NOW to extend the enhanced ACA tax credits and protect health coverage for millions more Americans.

This is a crucial moment to fight for access to healthcare.

Following U.S. House passage of the budget bill containing the most devastating cuts to Medicaid in history and changes to the ACA Marketplace that will make it more expensive and difficult to obtain and keep health insurance, ACS CAN expresses deep disappointment and urges Congress to extend the en...

Alaskans, we need to speak up!

Nicole’s life was saved by Medicaid, but proposed cuts threaten to take away this vital care.
Diagnosed with stage IV cancer at just 23, Nicole received life-saving treatment through Medicaid. Without it, her story might have ended differently.

We must call on Lisa Murkowski, Senator Dan Sullivan, and Rep. Nick Begich to stop these cuts and protect access to healthcare for all Alaskans.

It’s time to act. Contact our leadership today! https://act.fightcancer.org/a/medicaid-under-attack-call-your-members-of-congress-now

A recent Op-Ed in the New York Times warns that the "Big Beautiful Bill" could devastate Alaska’s most vulnerable communities. Nearly 40,000 Alaskans could lose healthcare, and thousands will face hunger as SNAP benefits are slashed. Our state’s remote communities, where Medicaid and SNAP are lifelines, would bear the brunt of these cuts.
We need Lisa Murkowski, Rep. Nick Begich, and Senator Dan Sullivan to protect Alaska’s Medicaid and SNAP funding before it’s too late.
Read the full Op-Ed:

Congress’s one-size-fits-all bill doesn’t take into account the realities of life in Alaska.

Medicaid is not just lifesaving - it’s job-saving. Healthy people power a healthy economy. Lisa Murkowski Senator Dan Sullivan Rep. Nick Begich please listen and stop the cuts that will cut working Alaskans from Medicaid.
