Alaska Women for Political Action

Alaska Women for Political Action The AWPA is a multi-partisan, multi-cultural grassroots organization. Everyone is welcome to attend our meetings.

We are dedicated to increasing women’s participation in the political arena and creating a political power base designed to achieve equality for women. Through recruiting, training and financial contributions, the AWPA provides support to women candidates running for all levels of office regardless of political affiliation. The AWPA meets on the first Wednesday of every month (except Feb., July, and Dec.) off the lobby of the Centerpoint Building at 3801 Centerpoint Drive.

Wow! That is an excellent point.

Women accounted for 100% of the labor force decline in July.

We need to lower childcare costs. 💔 Too many people, especially women, are being forced out of the workforce because they have kids.

Digital illustration of an older Muslim woman in a hijab. Text reads, "Access to childcare keeps women in the workforce.'

Image description: a graphic with a turquoise-to-green gradient background. Large, rounded white text fills the top and bottom of the image. The text reads:

“Work requirements
do not make those
unable to work
magically able to do
so.”

Centered between the text is an illustration of a seated person using a wheelchair. The person has dark hair, a beard, and medium-brown skin. They are wearing a peach-colored shirt and are covered from the waist down by a large orange-red blanket. Their head rests against one hand, suggesting tiredness or frustration.

The wheelchair is dark gray with a large wheel visible on the left.

Along the right edge, written vertically in white text, is “.”

SNAP Advocacy volunteers support individuals through the application and appeals process, helping them understand their rights and access the food assistance they need. Training is free, online and self-paced.
