🌧️ WEATHER UPDATE | TROPICAL DEPRESSION 5 🌧️

Here’s the latest information on Tropical Depression 5 as we continue to monitor the system moving toward the Southeast Texas coast.

⚠️ Tropical Storm Warning
A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for Chambers County through 9:00 AM Wednesday. Tropical storm-force winds are possible, with gusts of 40–45 mph expected within the warning area.

🌧️ Flood Watch Expanded
The Flood Watch has been expanded and now includes Brazoria, Fort Bend, and Walker Counties, in addition to Chambers and several surrounding counties. The watch remains in effect through Wednesday morning.

The primary concern with this system continues to be heavy rainfall and the potential for flash flooding.

☔ Rainfall Forecast:
• Widespread totals of 3–5 inches
• Isolated amounts of 6–9+ inches possible
• Heaviest rainfall expected Tuesday late morning through Tuesday evening

Heavy rainfall could lead to flooding of low-lying and poor-drainage areas, roads, creeks, and rivers.

🚗 Turn Around, Don’t Drown! Never attempt to drive through a flooded roadway.

🌧️ WEATHER UPDATE | HEAVY RAINFALL THREAT 🌀

As of right now, this Gulf system brings more of a heavy rainfall threat to our area than anything else. While Chambers County remains under a Tropical Storm Warning, residents should pay particular attention to the potential for heavy rain and flash flooding.

🌧️ Rainfall Forecast:
• Widespread rainfall totals of 3–5 inches are expected through Wednesday.
• Locally higher amounts of 6–9 inches are possible.
• Rainfall rates could reach 3–4 inches per hour at times in the heaviest downpours.

⚠️ Portions of Southeast Texas, including our area, are under a Slight Risk (Level 2 of 4) for excessive rainfall Tuesday and Wednesday.

Repeated rounds of heavy rainfall over the same locations could quickly lead to flash flooding, particularly in low-lying, poor-drainage and flood-prone areas.

💨 In addition to the rainfall threat, the Tropical Storm Warning indicates the potential for sustained winds of 20–30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph inland.

🚗 Remember: Turn Around, Don’t Drown! Never attempt to drive through a flooded roadway. It only takes a small amount of moving water to create a dangerous situation.

Conditions and forecasts can change, so stay weather aware and continue monitoring trusted sources for updates.

🔥 REMINDER: BURN BAN REMAINS IN EFFECT — CHAMBERS COUNTY 🔥

We know Chambers County received some much-needed rain yesterday, and while it did help improve our drought conditions, Chambers County is still under a Burn Ban.

⚠️ Chambers County Commissioners Court has extended the Burn Ban, meaning the prohibition on outdoor burning remains in effect.

🚫 Outdoor burning remains prohibited while the order is in effect. Certain exceptions apply as outlined in the official proclamation.

Even with the recent rainfall, dry conditions remain across the county. It only takes a few warm, dry days for vegetation to dry back out and increase the risk of fire.

🔥 One spark can start a wildfire.

Please continue to use extreme caution with anything that could create a spark or ignite dry vegetation. Recent rainfall does not mean the burn ban has been lifted.

🚨 If you see a fire or an uncontrolled burn, call 911 immediately.

📞 For questions regarding the burn ban, contact the Chambers County Fire Marshal’s Office at 409-267-4500.

Please help us protect our residents, first responders, homes, and property by continuing to follow the burn ban and sharing this reminder with others.
