Congratulations to Senior Evidence Technician Hockenberry on being named the 2025 Property Officer of the Year by the Orange County Chapter of the California Association for Property and Evidence.

Hockenberry plays a critical role in safely managing fi****ms in our custody. Congratulations P.A.C.E. Class #47! Over the course of 14 weeks, participants received a behind-the-scenes look at policing in Anaheim through classroom instruction, demonstrations, and presentations from a variety of specialized units and department personnel.

Thank you to this year’s graduates for dedicating your time to learn more about the work we do and for your continued involvement in helping keep our community safe and informed.

We will begin accepting applications for the 2028 PACE Citizen’s Academy in the fall. Follow us on social media for updates.

We received a call from a resident who wanted to say thank you. Calls like that mean a lot to the men and women of our department.

But we also want to pay that gratitude forward to the many people working behind the scenes, often without recognition. During this incident, employees from across the City of Anaheim stepped up on a moment’s notice to support the community, including Fire & Rescue, Community Services, Finance, Housing, Human Resources, Planning, Public Utilities, Public Works, and many others. They were all there working 24 hours at our emergency operations center.

And a huge thank you to our Emergency Management team for coordinating our response and the Communications staff at City Hall, who worked tirelessly to keep residents informed during an unprecedented situation. These are the unseen heroes of emergencies like this. The public may not always see their work, but our community is safer because of it.

What a team!

The evacuation order for Anaheim residents related to the Garden Grove hazmat incident has been lifted. While we are not completely in the clear just yet, we are thankful that our residents and businesses can safely return home after a long holiday weekend. Thank you for your patience, cooperation, and understanding throughout this incident.

Anaheim Police officers remain in the area assisting partner agencies, completing the mission, and helping maintain public safety.

We also want to recognize the nonstop work of our public safety partners, including fire personnel and health agencies, who have been working around the clock since Thursday to protect the community.

We will continue to share updates as more information becomes available and remain committed to keeping our community safe.
