The blue area of this map is the evacuation zone for Anaheim.

The zone also extends into Cypress, which is in orange.

Evacuations are out of an abundance of caution.

Firefighters are actively working to cool an overheated tank and are clearing neighborhoods in the extended vicinity as a precaution.

We continue to track the Garden Grove industrial incident at Western and Chapman avenues, about 3 miles south of the nearest points in west Anaheim.

Firefighters and hazardous materials teams continue to work the incident at GKN Aerospace, a maker of plastic products for aerospace uses.

Garden Grove evacuations have been reissued Friday morning as work continues.

There are no evacuations or immediate threats for west Anaheim or the rest of our city.

Anaheim Police is on hand assisting Garden Grove Police onsite. Anaheim Fire & Rescue is monitoring but is not needed at this time.

Orange County Fire Authority, which serves Garden Grove and is working the incident, has shared that an industrial chemical tank overheated, with firefighters working to cool the tank and contain air release with water hoses and sprinklers.

This morning, crews are dealing with a malfunctioning release valve with reissued evacuations out of an abundance of caution.

Work focuses on the overheated tank, and there are not major concerns about widespread chemical release in the atmosphere.
