Join us this Friday during First Friday Gallery Walk for a special Port of Anacortes Centennial event!

As part of our community's celebration of 100 years of jobs, commerce, and maritime heritage, Mayor Walters will be stepping into the role of a 1926 dock clerk to share a brief monologue reflecting on life along the waterfront a century agoβ€”and imagining what the Port and our city might become over the next 100 years.
β€’ Bayshore Mercantile
β€’ Performances June 5th at 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM

While you're downtown, be sure to visit the Centennial historical installation created through the efforts of many dedicated volunteers, local businesses, and community partners who helped bring Anacortes' rich waterfront history to life.

We hope you'll join us as we celebrate our past, honor the people who built this community, and look ahead to the future of Anacortes.

A Weather Walked In: Navigating the Seasons of the Vietnam War

Thursday, June 4

Anacortes Senior Activity Center

A book of rare Vietnam War photographs from Charlie Haughey, a rifleman with the Army 25th Infantry Division. This previously unseen photo collection lay dormant in storage for nearly 45 years before being discovered in 2012. The intimate and beautiful collection of photos showcase what the photographer called β€œthe life side of the war, not the death side of it”.

Anacortes, did you know that storm drains lead directly to local lakes, wetlands and shoreline without any filtration? That is why it is important to keep them clear of leaves, trash and other pollutants.

Washington Adopt-a-Drain lets you adopt a neighborhood drain (or more!) and helps keep our waterways healthy. How it works:

1. Adopt as many storm drains as you would like at wa.adopt-a-drain.org
2. Clean out your drain
3. Estimate type and pounds of debris collected and submit the data for tracking to your account.
