The first week of a four-week water main flushing program by the Department of Public Works begins Monday, June 1, 2026 through Friday, June 5, 2026, between the hours of 6:00 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. Water will be temporarily disturbed due to the flushing. Avoid laundering during this period.

After flushing is complete, you may encounter discolored or dirty water. This condition is disturbing but will dissipate if you turn on your cold water through all interior faucets for a while and flush out the discolored water.

If you have any questions regarding the hydrant flushing, please contact the Department of Public Works at 518-842-3691.

The City of Amsterdam announces that due to milling and paving on Guy Park Avenue, the following road closure will take place, Tuesday, May 5, 2026, and Wednesday, May 6, 2026, from 7:00 A.M. – 3:00 P.M. DAILY

• Guy Park Avenue from Jackson Street to Clinton Street

Drivers are asked to alternate routes during this time as no traffic will be allowed through.

Due to the impending storm, Amsterdam City Hall will be closed on Monday, January 26th and will reopen on Tuesday, January 27th at 8AM.

The Department of Public Works announces that Christmas trees will begin to be collected on Monday, January 5, 2026 and will continue through Friday, January 30, 2026. If any city resident has a Christmas tree that needs to be collected, they are requested to put it out on their curb and the City will pick them up. ALL LIGHTS AND DECORATIONS WILL NEED TO BE REMOVED OR THE TREE WILL NOT BE COLLECTED. ALSO, PLEASE DO NOT PUT THE TREE IN A BAG.

Any residents who miss this deadline are requested to call 518-841-4337 or 518-841-4320 to have your tree collected as a bulk pickup with a $5.00 fee.
