The Century Club of Amsterdam, New York The Century Club was established in 1895 by a woman of vision named Mercy Annie Allen Trapnell. GFWC was founded in New York City in 1890.

The Century Club of Amsterdam was founded in 1895 and has been a member of the General Federation of Women's Clubs since 1897. Its object is the intellectual and moral progress, social culture and civic improvement. It encourages and supports continuing education, provides scholarships, promotes family life and social culture of the arts. The club promotes pride in our community and friendship. Ma

ny of its members have gone on to leadership positions in the Federation. Elaine Ko being the first to become GFWC New York's State President in 2000-2002 and GFWC Middle Atlantic Region President in 2010-2012.
