We're halfway through National Preparedness Month! 🗓️ Are you and your family ready for the unexpected? This September, we're reminded that preparedness is a family affair.

This year's theme, "Americans Stand Ready," highlights our community's strength and resilience. Taking small steps now can make a big difference for your loved ones when it matters most.

Here's why preparedness is key:
* Emergencies can happen anytime, anywhere.
* Being prepared protects your family's well-being.
* It's a way to contribute to our community's safety.

Visit www.ready.gov for valuable information and stay updated on local preparedness tips and weather alerts on our Health Department webpage: www.madeofsomethingstronger.com.

Sara is taking us shopping this week! 🛍️😄

Sara is ditching the desk and hitting the streets! 🚶‍♀️😎 This week, she’s shopping local, exploring Amsterdam, and spreading the word about lead poisoning prevention!

And while you’re at The Nook, don’t forget to pick up your NO-COST handwashing kit, sponsored by the Montgomery County Health Department’s Lead Poison Prevention Program! 🧼✨

Cute school supplies AND healthy habits? Now THAT’S a back-to-school win!
Shop local. Visit a local business. Pick up a handwashing kit. Tell a friend. Then tag us and show Sara where you went! 📸🙌

September is National Recovery Month, a time to celebrate the strength, resilience, and achievements of individuals in recovery.

Recovery looks different for everyone. It is a personal journey that may include treatment, support groups, family, friends, and community resources.

Recovery is possible. Support is available. No one has to face challenges alone.

This month, we recognize:
• Individuals in recovery
• Families and loved ones who provide support
• Professionals and organizations helping people heal

Together, we can reduce stigma and create communities of understanding and support.

☕️ Sara’s Monday Morning Coffee 🍎🍂
Sara here—and apparently, my coffee and I have officially entered our fall era! 🎃☕️🍎
Cooler weather is no excuse to become one with the couch! Get outside, stay active, and make some good food choices. 🍎🥾
Fall is the perfect time to visit our local farms for apple picking, pumpkin picking, and all the seasonal fun right here in our community! 🍏🎃
So grab a sweater, grab your coffee, and get outside before Sara has to start wearing three layers just to get the mail! 😂
Enjoy fall, Montgomery County! 🍂 —and keep the coffee hot! ☕️

A new school year brings excitement, change, and sometimes stress.

Children and teens may experience feelings of anxiety, worry, or pressure as they adjust to new routines, classes, and expectations.

Parents, caregivers, and educators can support youth by:

• Creating open conversations about feelings
• Listening without immediately trying to fix problems
• Helping establish healthy routines
• Encouraging breaks and self-care
• Reminding youth they are not alone

Mental health is part of student success.

A simple question can make a difference:

“How are you really doing?”
