On May 19–21, Assistant Chief Weaver and Captain Brad Taylor had the opportunity to represent the City of Amory and the Amory Police Department at the 2026 Mississippi Public Safety Summit.

During the summit, they received valuable updates on laws, training, and equipment that will help us continue improving our department and better serve our community.

We greatly appreciate the support of the Mayor and Board of Aldermen for providing continued opportunities for professional development and training.

This was the fourth Public Safety Summit hosted by Department of Public Safety Commissioner Sean Tindell and Attorney General Lynn Fitch and was attended by representatives from law enforcement, fire departments, and EMS agencies from across Mississippi.

We remain committed to learning, growing, and serving the citizens of Amory with excellence.

The Amory Water Department will have workers present at the intersection of Concord Avenue and North Boulevard Drive today. The intersection will remain open for traffic, but please slow down and use caution. Concord Avenue will remain open to traffic for now. There is a detour through the Pea Patch ballfield's parking lot. The road bed is damaged under the closed section. It is completely blocked off, please do not enter the closed section. Work will continue on the damaged sewer system and the damaged road. Please use extreme caution in the area and keep speeds low when traveling near the closed section. Workers will be in the area over the next few days. The Amory Water Department will have temporary lane closures on Concord Avenue today between Sanders Drive and North Boulevard. Please use extreme caution and slow to 15 mph when workers are present. There are several areas where the road surface is uneven in this area, use caution. As always, we appreciate our citizens and the assistance and support you give. All City Departments are working together to fix this issue with the most minimal disturbance to the citizens. Amory Mississippi Amory Fire Department

The Amory Water Department is having to completely close a small section of Concord Avenue to fix a water leak. Traffic will not be able to travel between North Blvd and Sanders Drive effective immediately. This is a different issue and will hopefully not require a long shut-down. Avoid the area for the safety of workers and to make your travel smoother. Thanks as always for your cooperation and assisting in keeping city workers safe and traffic flowing smoothly.
