🍊🪿 MEET GOOSE — AND YES, THE NAME FITS. 🪿🍊

Some cats are elegant.
Some cats are mysterious.
Some cats are dignified.

And then there’s Goose. 😂

This big orange goofball has the personality of a goose trapped inside a cat’s body, and honestly… we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Goose is the kind of cat who wakes up every morning and chooses ✨nonsense✨.

He’s goofy.
He’s curious.
He’s energetic.
He’s affectionate.
And he has absolutely ZERO interest in acting like a normal cat. 😂

He’ll waddle into your life, investigate EVERYTHING, demand attention, and somehow leave you wondering how one orange cat can cause this much chaos.

But underneath all that goofy Goose behavior is a sweet, loving boy who just wants to be part of the action. 🥹🧡

“WHO WANTS TO WIN… RINGO?!” 🐾🏆

Tonight’s grand prize is a 62-pound, 2-year-old brindle bully mix with a very important announcement:

Ringo has already won.

Ringo came to us as a stray, dumped alongside other dogs, including Pinot and Genty. But somehow, despite everything that brought him here, this boy walked into our interview room like he had absolutely nothing to prove.

Some dogs make taking photos a little difficult. They’re nervous. They’re timid. They’re unsure of what’s happening.

Ringo?

Ringo took one look around the room, spotted the bench, climbed aboard…

…and apparently decided, “Yes. This is my throne.” 👑

And that was it.

He laid there completely relaxed, soaking up every ounce of attention we were willing to give him. No nervous pacing. No frantic searching. No desire to participate in the chaos.

Just Ringo.

Chilling.

Relaxing.

Being handsome.

And looking at us like he already knew exactly what he wanted out of life. 😂

More dogs abandoned

These three strays were dumped on a backroad in Madison Heights, and now some local animal lovers are working on rescuing them. To do this we are waiting for a specially designed trap (called a Missy trap) to become available so that we can rescue all three safely and efficiently. We should have access to it in about a week.

In the mean time we are looking for treats, wet food, and bravecto (or any type of flea and tick med that is pill form). If anybody has a few of those please DM us here. It’s been nearly 100° the last few days, and these dogs are covered in ticks, exhausted, and hot.

🌸🐾 INTRODUCING Junebug — SHE’S GOT IT ALL! 🐾🌸

The sass.
The s***k.
The spots.
The houndy goofiness.
And most importantly…

THE LOVE. ❤️

Meet Junebug, a 2-year-old, 44-pound Red Tick Hound who may be on the shorter side, but don’t let her size fool you — this girl has a personality that could fill the whole room! 😂

Junebug is goofy in that very special way that only a hound can truly master. She’ll toss toys around, entertain herself, strut her stuff, and generally make sure everyone knows that she has arrived. 🎀🐶

And underneath all that sass?

There’s a BIG soft heart. ❤️

Junebug can sometimes need a minute to warm up to someone new. She likes to take a moment, figure you out, and decide whether you're worthy of her attention.

But once she decides you’re her person?

Oh, honey. You’re HER person. 🥹

She absolutely loves affection and turns into the sweetest girl once she feels comfortable with you.

And can we talk about how gentle she is?

Junebug took her treats so gently, and when it came to toys, she mostly just mouthed them rather than chomping down. She was playful without being rough, goofy without being wild, and just genuinely happy to be having a good time. 🥰

We think Junebug could be a wonderful fit for a family with kids and would love a semi-active home where she can get out, sniff the world, play with her toys, and then come home and soak up some serious love.

Junebug came into the shelter with another hound named Ford. They arrived as strays together, although we don't know their story or whether they were dumped. What we DO know is that both of these dogs are wonderful, happy pups who clearly know how to strut their stuff. 🐾

Maybe somewhere along the way, they got lost.

Maybe someone left them behind.

Whatever happened, Junebug is ready to put that chapter behind her.

She’s ready for adventures.
She’s ready for belly laughs and hound antics.
She’s ready for someone to love her.

She’s ready to be somebody’s Junebug. 🌸❤️

💔 GENTRY IS WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO SEE HIM. 💔

Meet Gentry — a beautiful brindle and white bully mix, possibly with a little Boxer mixed in, and one of those dogs who makes you realize just how much patience and kindness can change a life. He's roughly between 1-2 years and 54 pounds. 🐾

Gentry didn’t come to us alone. He was dumped with three other dogs, including Pinot and Ringo.
We can only imagine how confusing and frightening that must have been — suddenly finding yourself in a shelter, surrounded by unfamiliar sounds, smells, people, and dogs, with absolutely no idea what happened to the life you once knew.

And Gentry? He’s shy. 🥺

He doesn’t walk into a room and immediately demand attention. He doesn’t throw himself at the kennel door begging to be noticed. He’s the kind of dog who needs you to slow down, sit beside him, and simply exist with him.

He needs someone who will say, “You don’t have to be brave today. I’ll sit right here until you’re ready.” ❤️

We believe Gentry would benefit tremendously from having a confident dog in his forever home — a canine friend who can show him that the world isn’t so scary. Someone who can teach him the joys of being an indoor dog: sleeping on a soft bed, following his person around the house, playing with toys, getting excited about dinner, lounging in the sunshine, and discovering that life can actually be pretty wonderful.

But we worry about Gentry.

Because he’s a dark brindle Bully mix, he may be one of the dogs who gets overlooked again and again. And because he’s shy, he may not be able to show you everything he has to offer from behind a kennel door.

That’s why we’re asking you for something incredibly simple.

Come sit with Gentry. 🥺

You don't have to adopt him that day. You don't have to make a commitment. Just come spend some time with him. Sit nearby. Talk softly. Let him watch you. Let him decide when he’s ready to come closer.

Because somewhere underneath that nervous exterior is a dog who deserves the chance to learn what it feels like to be safe, wanted, loved, and home.

🐾❤️ MEET SADIE — YOUR NEXT OVERBAKED COUCH POTATO! ❤️🐾

Sadie is a beautiful 2-year-old, 40-pound red bully/pit mix with the sweetest soul and the biggest heart. This doll baby has had a rough start, but she is ready to leave her past behind and find the loving forever home she truly deserves.

Sadie’s owner was incarcerated, and the people who were caring for her never called looking for her!!
They never came looking when she went missing, either.
Sadly, she hasn’t had the best past—but you would never know it from the love she gives constantly!

When Sadie arrived, she was a little thinner than we would have liked.
Now that she has discovered the joys of regular meals and real food, she is very enthusiastic about eating! Because of this, we are looking for a home without smaller children since they might have good treats in their little hands. Not because she's a bad girl.

With consistency, routine, and constant meals, Sadie may learn that food will always be available and develop better mealtime manners.

Ford is a 2-year-old, 51.6 lb male Walker Hound with the most handsome tri-color coat and a personality that is approximately 90% goofy goober and 10% actual hound. 😂

This boy is convinced that he is a tiny lap puppy… despite weighing over 50 pounds. If there’s a lap available, Ford WILL be attempting to occupy it. Personal space? Never heard of her. 😆❤️

kittens, adults, kittens galore!

Our local Humane Society has 90 cats in their care right now. A majority of them are kittens. You can imagine how overwhelmed they are! They are running low on supplies and have asked our community to donate what they can. Priority items include Fancy Feast wet food (kitten and adult), Kitten Formula, Kitten Chow, and Litter. We've set up a donation one stop shop at the registers for your convenience.
