Amherst Junior High seventh grader Emerson Crumley recently received an invitation from the United States Soccer Federation to participate in the U.S. Soccer Girls U-14 National ID Camp at the Arthur M. Blank U.S. Soccer National Training Center.

One of only 60 girls selected nationwide, Emerson earned her spot among the countryโ€™s top young soccer players โ€” an incredible accomplishment that reflects her dedication, talent, and hard work both on and off the field. Emerson is a member of the Cleveland Force Soccer Club, where she starts at center back anchoring the defense.

Emerson advanced to this prestigious opportunity after participating in three Talent ID regional mini-camps and the North Regional Mini-Camp in Georgia, hosted by the U.S. Soccer Federation. She traveled to Georgia on Tuesday, May 26, and will spend the week participating in advanced training sessions, games, skill-development opportunities, and high-level competition before returning home Sunday.

The U-14 Talent Identification Program is designed to discover and develop some of the nationโ€™s most promising young athletes while introducing them to โ€œThe U.S. Wayโ€ playing philosophy. Players receive elite instruction not only in soccer skills, but also in areas such as nutrition, recovery, leadership, and personal development.

This yearโ€™s National Camp is especially significant because it is one of the first Youth National Team camps to be held at the newly opened Arthur M. Blank U.S. Soccer National Training Center.

Amherst Junior High and Comet Nation are incredibly proud of Emerson for representing her school and community on the national stage. Congratulations, Emerson, and best of luck at camp!

SNL Students Pay a Special Tribute to Steele News Live

After nearly four decades of storytelling, creativity, and student voice, the seniors of Steele News Live created a heartfelt farewell to a program that has been part of our school community since 1986. In this final episode, students reflect on what being involved in Steele News Live has meant to them and the lasting impact it has had on their lives.

While this chapter is difficult to close, we are incredibly grateful for the opportunities the program provided generations of students to learn, grow, create, and connect. So many skills were developed, friendships formed, and memories made along the way. Thank you to every student, advisor, staff member, and supporter who helped make Steele News Live such a special part of Amherst Steele for so many years ๐Ÿ’š๐Ÿ’›

โšก๐Ÿ”ฌ Hands-on science in action at Amherst!

This year, students in Jon Darkowโ€™s Physical Science classes explored how electricity is generated through engaging engineering and modeling activities using wind turbines. Students experimented with turbine blade angle, length, and shape to discover how each design impacts electrical output, measuring their results with multimeters along the way. ๐ŸŒฌ๏ธโš™๏ธ

These real-world learning experiences gave students the opportunity to think critically, problem solve, and explore renewable energy concepts through hands-on investigation.

A special thank you to the Martha Holden Jennings Foundation for making this innovative learning opportunity possible through grant funding! ๐Ÿ‘
