A special congratulations to the Buffalo Jewish Federation on the recent celebration of its 100th Kindness Suitcase distributed to schools across Western New York!

Sweet Home is especially proud to have been the first school district to partner with the Kindness Suitcase program. Today, two years later, there is a Kindness Suitcase in every Sweet Home library, providing students and staff with books, lessons, and resources that promote kindness, empathy, inclusion, and understanding.

We are grateful to our Sweet Home librarians, who enthusiastically embraced this partnership from the very beginning and recognized the powerful role that stories can play in helping students learn about compassion and respect for others.

Thank you to the Holocaust Education Resource Organization of the Buffalo Jewish Federation for helping us foster a culture of kindness throughout our schools. We are honored to have been part of this incredible initiative from the start!

We celebrate and thank Sweet Home's 31 retirees for their extraordinary dedication to our students, staff, and community. Together, they have contributed an incredible 689 years of service to our district!

On behalf of the Board of Education and all of us at Sweet Home, we are incredibly grateful for the many contributions they have made to our District. To honor and celebrate their careers, we will hold a Retirement Reception on Monday, June 8 at 5:00 p.m. in the Norman C. Vergils Community Center. We look forward to recognizing and thanking them for their years of service and the positive impact they have had on our school community.

A big HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Heritage Heights Principal Mr. Perry! He turns 50 this weekend and what better way to celebrate than to have your whole building show you love? Before class started, the Heritage Heights staff surprised Mr. Perry with a breakfast, and as students got off the bus they piled on the hugs and wished him a great day. Thank you for all you do, and happy birthday Mr. Perry!

Congratulations to Senior Sofia Guadagna, who was recognized by the Amherst Bee recently as Sweet Home's Teen of the Year! She was among 20 other nominees from across Western NY. The award celebrates students who excel in academics, athletics, and character.

Sofia was nominated by Mary Bruce, Ty Critelli, and Jane Woloss. Sofia's wrestling coach Bailey Crouse was on hand to celebrate with her and her family. We are so proud!

Our annual Challenge 2 Change event is a chance for students of all ages to come together around a common theme. This year's theme, chosen by our students, was "Bloom with Kindness: Grow Your Garden". Students and adults alike participated in table and group activities designed to show the importance of teamwork, positive thinking, and being kind to those around you.

This year we heard an inspiring keynote speech from Sweet Home alum Damarion Stone, celebrated Dr. Wilson's last year before retirement, heard poetry from Hy-Deia Elwadi, participated in restorative circles with Candles In The SUN, held group activities, and much more.

Each element of the day is planned, created, and set up by our students. Kudos to them for their leadership and creativity!
