Happy National Friends of Libraries Week! The Friends of the Amesbury Public Library is a 501(c)3 who raise funds to support the library. In recent years they have raised over $20,000 annually! These funds are invaluable to supplement our city budget. They are used to support things like:

⭐programming for all ages
⭐hotspots to check out providing internet
⭐enhancements to service like new outdoor seating
⭐museum passes that give you free or discounted admission to local cultural institutions

Thank you for all your hard work throughout the year to help us better serve our community!

Don't let The Pigeon lose! Our scarecrow is up outside the Library and is part of The Chamber Scarecrow contest. Enjoy all the amazing animal scarecrows downtown and vote either on the Chamber post or with paper ballots (we have some here at the Library!) We love being part of this fall tradition!

Our floors are getting a facelift next week! Monday October 26 and Tuesday October 27 the Library will be closed for a facility project. The carpet on the main stairs up to the kids room is being replaced and the second floor stacks is getting carpet installed over the current tile floor.

Both projects were approved in this fiscal year's capital budget to improve the health and safety of the library. We will reopen for normal hours Wednesday October 28!

We love welcoming school visits to the Library! This week all the 1st grade classes from Shay School are walking to the Library to have our staff read a book and discuss different types of libraries as well as all the cool things at our Library. What a great Fall tradition!

This week we are happy to have a beautiful day for our last Mother Goose on the Loose at 4pm (we'll have some sensory playtimes going foward on Mondays); Thursday at 10:30am join Rebecca in the pumpkin patch next door for our annual pumpkin storytime for all ages; Teens (7th - 12th grade) can make a zombie barbie any time we're open from Oct 28 - 30; join Clare at the annual PTO Trunk or Treat at Cashman on Oct 30 from 5pm - 6:30pm. Our Make and Take is out right inside the ramp door entrance. Pick up a bag to make your own Spooky House and let the creativity flow over this chilly weekend! This is great project for ages 5 and up (although younger kids might need some help). If you don't have scissors or glue at home, let us know and we can lend you some! Pick up while supplies last!
