On May 28, the Amesbury Police Department conducted its annual department meeting and is pleased to announce that several members were recognized for acts of heroism and valor, while others were promoted to positions of greater responsibility within the organization.
Chief Bailey had this to say during his department address:
"First, please allow me to take a moment to congratulate all of our team accommodations and lifesaving recipients along with those who were promoted this evening.
Law enforcement is a profession built on service. It demands sacrifice not only from the men and women who wear the badge, but also from the families who support them. Tonight, we have recognized individuals who have gone above and beyond—whether through acts of courage, leadership, compassion, professionalism, or an unwavering commitment to our community.
To our award recipients, thank you for representing the very best of the Amesbury Police Department. Your actions have made a difference in the lives of others and have brought great credit to this organization.
To our civilian hero, I am truly humbled to have you here with us this evening. Your actions are a testament not only to your courage and character, but also to the values instilled by your remarkable family. In a moment when it mattered most, you stepped forward without hesitation and made a difference. On behalf of all of us, thank you for your selfless actions and for helping us keep Amesbury safe.
To Officers Dumont and O'Brien, welcome to the profession. The badge you wear represents a sacred trust between law enforcement and the community we serve. Wear it with pride, humility, and honor.
To Sergeant Peters, congratulations on your promotion. The rank of Sergeant is where leadership truly begins. The officers under your command will look to you for guidance, mentorship, and direction. Lead them well.
To Lieutenant Coker, congratulations on achieving one of the highest and most respected ranks within our department. Your promotion reflects years of dedication, experience, and service. The responsibility that accompanies that gold bar is significant, and I have every confidence that you will continue to serve this department and community with distinction.
The Amesbury Police Department is stronger today because of the individuals we recognized tonight. Their commitment reminds us that excellence is not an accident—it is the result of hard work, sacrifice, integrity, and dedication to a purpose greater than oneself.
Congratulations to all of tonight's honorees and promotes. Your service makes Amesbury a safer and stronger community."
