Well that went a whole lot better than anticipated, we came very prepared but you guys surprised us! Despite the heat and the crowd, the vast majority of people stayed safe!

In total we only had exactly 100 patient contacts with 3 of those requiring transport to the hospital for continued care. Exact breakdowns of the contacts can be found below.

Good morning Cyclone fans!!

It’s the first football game of the year and we are expecting a very busy day on all fronts. Expect a large volume of pedestrian and vehicle traffic, especially around the stadium.

It’s going to be very very warm out there today so make sure to stay hydrated and find shade where you can, we don’t need anybody getting overheated!

Here are our final pictures of the new and improved A724! We got it all stocked up and it will hit the streets very shortly. This truck marks a huge milestone for the department and we are excited to keep these new trucks coming!

Welcome to September! We stayed busy in August with plenty of 911 calls and transfers, but we also welcomed back the students to Iowa State! We provided medical coverage to numerous events during Welcome Week at ISU.

Yesterday between calls, the on-duty overnight crews did multiple simulated scenarios to freshen up on their assessments and skills. They worked on multiple scenarios which included traumatic injury management and advanced airway management.

Continued training sessions like these help keep our crews ready at all times, including the wee hours of the morning where these crews excel!

We cannot stress this enough. PAY ATTENTION, SLOW DOWN, AND MOVE OVER in the presence of emergency vehicles. We hope for a speedy recovery of the officer affected.

An Ames Police Department patrol vehicle was struck while an officer was working on the interstate last night. The officer sustained injuries but is expected to be okay. The driver who caused the crash was arrested and charged with Failure to Change Lane Upon Approach to an Emergency Stationary Vehicle Causing Injury.

This incident is a reminder of the risks faced by law enforcement, firefighters, EMS personnel, tow truck operators, and highway workers who work alongside moving traffic.

When you see flashing emergency lights, slow down and move over when it is safe to do so. One moment of inattention can change everything.

Slow down. Move over. Pay attention. Get home safely.

We are currently waiting for it to wrap up with the city before it goes to get it's radio and router put in soon.
