CALLING VOLUNTEERS! This Saturday, May 16 Ames Parks and Recreation is needing more volunteer "buddies" for the City of Ames Miracle League.

What is Miracle League? Miracle League provides children and adults with physical or mental challenges with a safe and spirited environment where they can hit, run, and catch in a non-competitive baseball league. Each game is two innings. Every player hits, every player gets on base, and every player scores.

What is a volunteer buddy? Every player is paired with a "buddy" to provide encouragement and assistance where needed during the game (hitting, catching, fielding, throwing, base running).

When are the games? Miracle League plays on Saturday mornings at Inis Grove Park - Rotary Club of Ames Miracle Field (2500 Duff Ave). Games are at 9:00am and 10:00am. Games are two innings and since everyone bats, games are generally around 45-50 minutes in length. Buddies are asked to arrive 15 minutes prior to game time and meet by the first base dugout. Staff will be onsite to meet with volunteers and provide a brief orientation prior to games, answer questions, and partner buddies with players.
