Homewood Golf Course will be closed from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 14, for scheduled turf maintenance.

During the closure, maintenance staff will aerate all greens. Aeration helps improve air and water movement through the soil, promoting healthier grass and better playing conditions throughout the course.

Thank you for your patience as our Parks and Recreation team works to keep Homewood looking and playing its best!

Summer may be winding down, but swimming in Ames isn’t going anywhere!

On the latest episode of Ames in Focus, we’re making the move from Furman Aquatic Center to the Fitch Family Indoor Aquatic Center.

Bill Gebhart sits down with Ames Parks and Recreation's Recreation Superintendent Courtney Kort to talk about the final day of the season at Furman Aquatic Center on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 7, and the start of regular indoor operations at the Fitch Family Indoor Aquatic Center on Tuesday, Sept. 8.

Learn about the lap pool, wellness pool, current channel, splash pool, body slide, indoor walking area, aquatics programs, admission options and more. We also look back at what it took to bring the new facility to life and what’s ahead as Fitch begins its first full indoor season.

And, of course, Courtney faces the Ames in Focus lightning round!
