🚨 The wait for the new bridge opening — like the commute across the river — is about to get shorter! 🌉✨
Thanks to the long hours and 7 day work weeks put in by Kraemer North America, their subcontractors, and our consulting partners, along with favorable weather and steady river levels, we’re thrilled to announce that the new Mississippi River Bridge in Lansing will now open in early November 2026, moving up from the original spring 2027 timeline! 🎉💪🔥

Iowa and Wisconsin Announce Early November Opening for Iowa 9 / WIS 82 Mississippi River Crossing at Lansing

🚧 Big milestone in Lansing! 🎉
Monday was the final bridge deck pour for the center section!
🌅 Ready mix trucks started unloading onto conveyor belts from both sides of the river at 6:00 am. Crews worked from the center of the bridge back toward their respective shorelines to place the concrete.
🚚 922 cubic yards of concrete were delivered on 95 trucks — finishing around 3:45 pm.
We’ve heard lots of questions about when the new bridge will open. Kraemer’s current schedule shows spring 2027. Progress is looking great, and we’ll share any updates if the schedule changes.

🚧 Heads up, Lansing!
We’ll be doing the final deck pour on Monday, August 24! 🎉
⏰ Expect delays in the Iowa 9/Iowa 26 work zone near the bridge from about 6:00 am to 2:00 pm due to ready-mix truck traffic.
🚦 The traffic signals currently in place will continue to guide vehicles through the work zone.
🚩 Additional flaggers will be on site to briefly stop traffic when needed so trucks can safely enter and exit the area.

Great news! The fog has lifted ☀️🌫️ and the ferry has resumed its normal schedule ⛴️✔️.

🚧 More signs of progress at the Mississippi River Bridge at Lansing! 🎉
The crew is finishing up the reconstruction of the northbound lanes of Iowa 9/Iowa 26!
That means a traffic switch is coming overnight on Aug. 10 so they can reconstruct the southbound lanes:
🕙 Iowa 9/Iowa 26 closes at 10:00 pm
🌅 Reopens by 6:00 am on Aug. 11 (weather permitting)
🚗 Front Street will stay open for northbound traffic, and southbound Iowa 26 travelers will need to use an alternate route.
