The wet pattern continues with "rinse and repeat" showers and thunderstorms expanding across the area this afternoon and evening. A flood watch is in effect for much of north and central Georgia. Rain rates may exceed 2-3" per hour.

Flood Watch issued May 26 at 1:58AM EDT until May 26 at 11:00PM EDT by NWS Peachtree City GA
* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be
possible.

* WHERE...Portions of central and west central Georgia, including the
following counties, in central Georgia, Bibb, Crawford, Jones,
Monroe and Peach. In west central Georgia, Chattahoochee, Harris,
Lamar, Macon, Marion, Meriwether, Muscogee, Pike, Schley, Stewart,
Sumter, Talbot, Taylor, Troup, Upson and Webster.

* WHEN...Through this evening.

* IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers,
creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations.
Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...
- Multiple rounds of rainfall are expected to move across the area
through late today. An anomalously moist environment will persist
over Georgia, resulting in high rain rates and increased chances
for flash flooding. Convective rainfall (showers and
thunderstorms) may repeatedly train over areas, and have locally
high enough rainfall rates to induce flash flooding in urban
areas and areas with poor drainage, as well as creeks and streams
prone to flash flooding.

Strong thunderstorms will impact portions of southeastern Macon, southern Pulaski, northwestern Wilcox, Dooly, northeastern Sumter and northeastern Crisp Counties through 415 PM EDT

At 340 PM EDT, a line of strong thunderstorms was along a line
extending from near Pennington to near Richwood to near Rochelle, and
moving north at 25 mph.

HAZARD...40 to 50 mph wind, frequent cloud to ground lightning and
heavy rain.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect minor damage to tree limbs and blowing around of
light, unsecured objects. Heavy rain may cause temporary
street flooding especially in poor drainage areas.

Locations impacted include...
Cordele, Vienna, Unadilla, Montezuma, Rochelle, Byromville, Pineview,
Pinehurst, Pitts, Lilly, Dooling, Richwood, Mock Springs, Seville,
Ocmulgee Banks, Finleyson, Drayton, Pleasant View, Methvins, and
Tippettville.
People outdoors should seek shelter immediately. If you can hear
thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Motorists
should slow down and be prepared for possible loss of control due to
hydroplaning.

At 222 PM EDT, a line of strong thunderstorms was along a line
extending from White House to Bridges Crossroad to near Sylvester
Airport, and moving north at 25 mph.

HAZARD...Winds 40 to 50 mph, frequent lightning and heavy rain.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Expect minor damage to tree limbs and blowing around of
light, unsecured objects. Heavy rain may cause temporary
street flooding especially in poor drainage areas.
