Sumter Alert:
Strong thunderstorms will impact portions of south central Marion, eastern Stewart, Webster, Sumter and southwestern Crisp Counties through 245 PM EDT

At 222 PM EDT, a line of strong thunderstorms was along a line
extending from White House to Bridges Crossroad to near Sylvester
Airport, and moving north at 25 mph.
HAZARD...Winds 40 to 50 mph, frequent lightning and heavy rain.
SOURCE...Radar indicated.
IMPACT...Expect minor damage to tree limbs and blowing around of
light, unsecured objects. Heavy rain may cause temporary
street flooding especially in poor drainage areas.

Americus, Lumpkin, Preston, Richland, Plains, Arabi, Leslie, De Soto,
Weston, Desoto, Cobb, Sumter, Lamar, Seminole, Westville, Croxton
Crossroads, Brooklyn, Huntington, Leveretts, and Troutman.
People outdoors should seek shelter immediately. If you can hear
thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Motorists
should slow down and be prepared for possible loss of control due to
hydroplaning.
