The Utah Chapter of the American Planning Association (APAUT) is an official Chapter of the American

The Utah Planning Association (UTPA) is an official Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA). UTAPA is a 500-plus member organization of professional planners and planning officials who serve Utah’s communities in many ways, at all levels of government, the private sector and not-for-profit organizations. The purpose of the Chapter is to encourage, promote and assist physical, economic,

and human resources planning within the State of Utah and to further the purposes of the American Planning Association, including but not limited to the following:

- To provide for the exchange of ideas and to disseminate information to public officials and others engaged in or interested in planning and community development;
- To foster meetings, conferences, and educational programs relating to planning and development;
- To promote and support research and publications relating to planning and development and other pertinent subjects;
- To develop programs for the examination and continuing education of professional planners;
- To otherwise promote understanding, cooperation, coordination, and support necessary for progressive planning and development throughout the State of Utah.

Preservation Engaged: Celebrating Utah’s Communities is back for 2026! Preservation Engaged will be in Ogden at the historic Ogden High School. The Utah State Historic Preservation Office hosts this conference in collaboration with Preservation Utah to bring you speakers and workshops on the topics of Historic Preservation, Main Street and Preservation Planning, and Cultural Resources. We hope you’ll join us for an engaging day of informative sessions, panel discussions, and more.

Conference Check-In will open at 8am and the Welcome Address will begin at 9am.

All month long, APA Utah will be highlighting bike-related projects from around the state—from trail connections and protected bike lanes to bike parking, wayfinding, and community rides.

Join APA Utah for a Legislative Wrap-Up Workshop on Friday, May 22!

This workshop is an opportunity for Utah planners to come together and discuss recent changes to state statute, including new detached ADU requirements, training requirements for Planning Commissioners, and other legislative topics impacting communities across the state.
