The latest word I have received is that Timpanogos Cave may be able to be opened Mothers' Day weekend, with mask mandates still in place.

This past season TICA had a rare opportunity to record aspects of the Cave, such as temperature, moisture levels, and amounts of bats and other critters, without any human visitors entering all season. Never before in the history of TICA has this been possible, as from the discovery there have been many visitors all through the warm months. Comparisons can now be made as to the impact humans are having on it's environment. This on one aspect of Covid-19 closures we can consider a benefit.

The Cave Trail will be open through October 18, 2020. The loveliness of the Trail is changing pallets as the leaves have begun turning colors to reds, pinks, golds, and yellows. The air is crisper and cooler, and the fresh fur tree air has hints of autumn creeping in. Getting in some final hikes before the 2020 season ends will be well worth the steep, satisfying workout.

Currently the plan for hikers is for the Trail to be open daily up to Oct. 3, and the following Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 10, 11. Trail and other maintenance needs make these dates necessary. We appreciate the Monument's superintendent making the Trail accessible to hikers as much as possible!

(Weather permitting) Please be sure to check with the ranger at the bottom of the trail before your first hike to refresh the safety rules, Also, get your badge scanned each time as you begin your hike, so an accurate count can be kept, which shows the National Park Service that there are many people who use and care about our Monument, Timpanogos Cave.
