September is National Preparedness Month.

Now is a great time to make sure you and your family are prepared for an emergency. If you already have a plan, take a few minutes to review it and make sure everything is up to date.

Don’t have a plan yet? Start with these four steps:
1. Make a Plan
Talk with your household about emergency alerts, shelter, evacuation routes, communication, and your emergency kit.
2. Know Your Needs
Consider medical needs, pets, children, disabilities, dietary needs, and other responsibilities that may affect your emergency plan.
3. Write It Down
Create a family emergency plan with important contact information, meeting places, and medical information.
4. Practice Your Plan
Review and practice your plan with your household so everyone knows what to do when an emergency happens.

🚨 TRAFFIC ALERT – CANYON DRIVE CLOSED 🚨

Amarillo Police are currently working a serious traffic crash in the 4500 block of Canyon Drive, northbound.

At this time, northbound Canyon Drive and the northbound access road are closed to traffic while our Traffic Investigators work the crash.

We are asking the community to avoid the area and use an alternate route. Please allow our investigators and emergency personnel the space they need to safely work the scene.

We will provide an update with additional information once the crash scene has been cleared.

Scattered storms are once again present for this early morning with a majority of them centered around the Northern and Central Panhandles. Currently these storms are producing heavy rainfall and frequent lightning, but small hail can't be ruled out.
