Doyle Corder grew up in Lubbock, Texas the youngest of 5 children. He first attended Lubbock Christian University where he met his wife Christy. After marrying, Doyle and Christy transferred to Texas Tech University where they both earned degrees in Music Education. In 1997, Doyle and Christy moved to Plainview, Tx where Christy began teaching and Doyle served the Garland Street Church of Christ a
s associate minister. In 2000, Doyle and Christy moved to Amarillo where Doyle had accepted a position with Southwest Church of Christ to focus on college ministry and worship ministry. Since then, Doyle's ministry focus has changed as he grew in leadership abilities. He now serves Southwest as the Worship and Executive Minister. Christy has been teaching music at South Georgia Elementary for 25 years. Doyle and Christy have three children who all grew up in AISD and graduated from AHS. Everett (2013) is a sports information director at Lubbock Christian University, Avery (2016) graduated from WTAMU with a degree in Music Education, taught for 3 years in Shallowater ISD, and is now in graduated school at Texas Tech University. Truett (2020) is a recent graduate of Lubbock Christian University with a degree in chemistry and will begin Pharmacy School at Texas Tech University in the fall. Doyle has served AISD in many ways over the last 25 years. He served on the South Georgia PTA and served as the PTA president when his children were young. He serves often as a group leader at South Georgia's outdoor education. Doyle has served both Bonham MS and Amarillo HS as a community partner on their Sight Based Decision Making (SBDM) committees. Doyle has helped with the Bonham and AHS choirs in both clinics and assisting in other areas. He has played percussion for performances with the Bonham and AHS choirs as well as the All Region choir. In 2010, Doyle was asked to assist the Amarillo High School band as a part time percussion instructor. Doyle led the AHS drumline for the 10 years on a part time basis before joining the AISD board. In November of 2019, Doyle saw another opportunity to serve the community he loves. Doyle applied for an open board position and was appointed in December of 2019. In May of 2021, Doyle was re-elected to the board and is now serving a four year term. Doyle has enjoyed serving on the AISD board and is proud of how they have led through some of the most complicated times in our history. The AISD board has continued to make decisions that place the education and safety of our students and the safety and support of our teachers at the forefront. They have continued to look to the future of education by funding one to one initiatives and the AmTech Career academy. Doyle is committed to serving in any way possible to further the success of AISD students.
