Storms are rolling in! Stay safe and weather aware!

Showers and storms will move south and east along a cold front today, primarily bringing a threat for damaging winds, large hail, and flooding. ● Showers and thunderstorms are starting to blossom across North Texas and are slowly pushing south and east along/ahead of a cold front. ● Storm intensification is likely late morning through the afternoon, with strong to severe storms persisting as they move further into Central Texas through the evening. ○ Damaging winds and large hail will be possible with any of today’s storms. ● We’re watching for an additional round of storms moving in from the west in the evening/overnight, mainly for Central Texas. ○ While a few severe storms are possible with this activity, the main threat tonight will be heavy rain and isolated flash flooding. ● Extended Forecast: An active and unsettled pattern will continue mid/late week and into the weekend. While the severe potential is low, the flooding threat will increase due to multiple rounds of rain which will be heavy at times.
What We Are Certain Of: ● Any storm that develops today will have potential to become strong to severe and produce heavy rain given the amount of moisture and instability. ● At least some measurable rainfall is likely for all of North and Central Texas over the next several days. What We Are Less Certain Of: ● Severe weather potential after Tuesday. ● The extent of the flooding threat late week. Very rich moisture will be in place, leading to rounds of heavy rainfall, but the exact areas and highest rain totals are less certain.

BOIL WATER NOTICE RESCINDED
May 1, 2026

On April 29th, 2026, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality required the City of Alvord Public Water System, PWS #2490001, to issue a Boil Water Notice to inform customers, individuals, or employees that due to conditions which occurred recently in the public water system, the water from this public water system was required to be boiled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

The public water system has taken the necessary corrective actions to restore the quality of the water distributed by this public water system used for drinking water or human consumption purposes and has provided TCEQ with laboratory test results that indicate that the water no longer requires boiling prior to use as of May 1st, 2026.

If you have questions concerning this matter, you may contact Jerry Anderson at 940-427-5916.

BOIL WATER NOTICE
Effective April 29, 2026 10:37 pm

Due to a catastrophic water main rupture, and subsequent loss of pressure the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required the City of Alvord Public Water System to notify all customers between the south side of the Rail Road tracks and the north side of HWY 287 shown within the red outlined area of the attached map to boil their water prior to consumption (e.g., washing hands/face, brushing teeth, drinking, etc). Children, seniors, and persons with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria, and all customers should follow these directions).

To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes.

In lieu of boiling, individuals may purchase bottled water or obtain water from some other suitable source for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

When it is no longer necessary to boil the water, the public water system officials will notify customers that the water is safe for drinking water or human consumption purposes.

Once the boil water notice is no longer in effect, the public water system will issue a notice to customers that rescinds the boil water notice in a manner similar to this notice.

Please share this information with all the other people who drink this water, especially those who may not have received this notice directly (for example, people in apartments, nursing homes, schools, and businesses). You can do this by posting this notice in a public place or distributing copies by hand or mail.

If you have questions concerning this matter, you may contact Jerry Anderson at 940-427-5916.
