🏃‍♂️💜 22nd Annual Beneeezy Purple Monkey Fun Run 💜🏃‍♀️

Saturday, September 5th, members of the Alvin Volunteer Fire Department joined more than 600 runners for the 22nd Annual Beneeezy Purple Monkey Fun Run! Several City of Alvin staff members also laced up their running shoes and took part in this great community tradition.

Coach Lenny Garcia, his wife Victoria, and many amazing volunteers work tirelessly to make this event such a special tradition for Alvin. Their dedication helps raise scholarship funds for Alvin ISD students while bringing our community together for a morning of fun, fellowship, and a little friendly competition.

We always enjoy opportunities like this to spend time with the people we serve. We’re honored to serve such an incredible community and grateful for every chance we get to be part of the events and traditions that bring Alvin together.

Thank you to Coach Lenny Garcia, Victoria, the many volunteers, sponsors, participants, and everyone who continues to support the Beneeezy Purple Monkey Fun Run. We’re proud to be part of this tradition and look forward to doing it again next year! 🚒💜

🚛 Busy day involving 18-wheelers in our community.

Early this morning, crews responded to a minor crash that ruptured an 18-wheeler’s fuel tanks, requiring our HazMat trailer. A few hours later, another 18-wheeler became stuck at a railroad crossing and was struck by a train. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

These incidents are a serious reminder to stay alert behind the wheel and use extra caution around railroad crossings.

Thank you to our community for your patience, and to Alvin PD for helping keep crews safe while the roadway and railway were cleared. 🚒🚓

Our volunteers come from all kinds of careers and backgrounds, but they share one goal: serving their community when it matters most.

🔥 Late Wednesday Night Mutual Aid Response

Late Wednesday night, Alvin Volunteer Fire Department responded to a mutual aid request for a structure fire in Liverpool.

Engine 31, Tanker 1, and Engine 21 responded to assist. Multiple agencies were also on scene working together to bring the incident under control.

🚒 Morning Major Accident 8-21-26 🛑

At 5:31 a.m. Friday morning, the Alvin Volunteer Fire Department was toned out for a major rollover accident involving a fully loaded concrete truck on the north side of Alvin, in the area of Victory Lane and North Highway 35.

The driver became trapped inside the vehicle with a leg pinned. Firefighters worked carefully to free the driver from the wreckage. After a successful extrication, the driver was transferred to EMS and transported for further medical care.

Engine 11, Engine 21, Engine 31, Rescue 1, and units 506, 507, and 503 all responded to the incident.

Because the concrete truck was fully loaded, a heavy-duty wrecker was required to remove the vehicle from the scene. Please be patient while the wreckage is cleared.

We were excited to participate in the 5th Annual Back to School Bash at Newman Park! We had a great time visiting with students and showing off some cool tools from our heavy rescue apparatus.

Applications are now open for the Alvin Volunteer Fire Department’s 2027 Recruit Academy, which begins in January.

You do not need to come from a fire service background. Our department includes people of different ages, professions, and experiences who share one goal: protecting and serving the Alvin community.

Applicants must be between 18 and 55 years old, live within the Alvin response area, possess a valid Texas Driver’s License, and successfully complete all required testing and screenings.
