Please plan ahead, allow a little extra travel time, and use alternate routes during the closure.

City leaders had the opportunity to attend the State of Public Education Luncheon hosted by the Northern Brazoria County Chamber of Commerce, where Alvin Independent School District Superintendent Dr. Rhonda Mason shared updates on the future of public education and the continued growth of our community. We also want to officially welcome Dr. Mason to Alvin and look forward to working together for the benefit of our students, families, and community.

Strong partnerships between schools, local government, and community organizations help keep Alvin moving forward. Events like this provide an opportunity for community leaders to stay connected and continue working together for the future of Alvin.

🚚 ATTENTION CITY OF ALVIN FOOD TRUCK OPERATORS 🚚

If you currently hold a Mobile Food Vendor/Food Truck permit with the City of Alvin, there is an important upcoming change from the State of Texas.

Beginning July 1, 2026, mobile food vendors will be required to obtain a Mobile Food Vendor License through the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS). Cities will no longer issue the primary health permits for mobile food vendors.

This new statewide licensing program, created through House Bill 2844, is intended to allow licensed mobile food vendors to operate throughout Texas under one state-issued license instead of obtaining separate permits in multiple cities.

Food truck operators are encouraged to begin reviewing the new requirements and application process as soon as possible.

Official State of Texas information and application details can be found here: https://www.dshs.texas.gov/retail-food-establishments/permits-retail-food-establishments/mobile-food-vendors

Questions regarding licensing requirements should be directed to the State licensing department.

Mayor Gabe Adame Joins Alvin ISD Book Bus as Special Guest Reader

There’s nothing better than seeing kids light up over a good book 💛

Mayor Gabe Adame had a great time joining the Alvin ISD Book Bus as a special guest reader and helping celebrate 10 years of keeping students excited about reading all summer long. From picking out books to sharing stories and smiles, it was a fun morning focused on learning, imagination, and community.

A big thank you to Alvin Independent School District and everyone who helps make the Book Bus such a special program for local families. Opportunities like this help encourage a lifelong love of reading — and make summer a little more fun along the way.
