What an incredible day for our 8th graders! ☀️🎉 A HUGE thank you to all of the amazing parents, families, and community members who donated and helped make our 8th Grade Skip Day possible. Your generosity helped create such a fun and memorable experience for our students!

Special thanks to:
🌭 Matt Nickel for donating the hotdogs
💦 Farm Credit for donating the water
🏰 Nam and Pops for setting up the inflatables
🍔 The Hanks family for cooking for us

We are so grateful for everyone who gave their time, support, and donations to make this day such a success. Our students had an amazing time, and it would not have been possible without all of you!

Former Alva teacher and lifelong farmer Dan Heaton: the only way to finance a school bond is through property taxes. He has had many conversations with farmers and ranchers — and almost all agree on the need and on this being the only available mechanism.

Our AMS students put their creativity, planning, and problem-solving skills to work in this year’s Dream House Project! This collaborative effort between Mrs. Collins’ 8th grade math classes and Mrs. Hada’s 8th grade reading classes combined real-world math skills with creativity and communication. Students designed their own dream houses, researched materials and features, calculated costs and budgets, and created real estate ads and descriptions to showcase their homes. Each class held its own contest, with winners selected by a panel of secret judges. From unique designs to thoughtful details, every project showcased imagination, innovation, and hard work. We are so proud of the effort and creativity these students brought to life through their dream homes!

The proposed tax increase for the 2026 Student Investment Plan is 29.5%. For a property owner currently paying $1,000/year, that is an additional $295.02/year — or $24.59 per month. Alva's proposed millage rate of 22 would bring the district in line with similar neighboring districts.
