Altoona Area Public Library For over 90 years, the Altoona Area Public Library has been serving our community.

The Altoona Area Public Library provides library services to the residents of the Altoona Area School District in order to meet their educational, informational, and recreational needs. In addition the library is the District Library Center for libraries in Blair, Bedford and Huntingdon Counties. In that capacity it provides interlibrary loan, reference, public relations and advisory services for the benefit of all residents of the three county area.

There are still spots available to join us for Storytime at the AAPL this school year!

We offer three versions of Storytime, each geared towards a different age group. Programs are held in four week sessions starting this week and run through the end of the school year. A break week will be held after each four week session.

Mother Goose on the Loose with Miss Evelyn is a unique one-on-one lap-sit program for children 12-24 months and caregiver. Choose from Mondays or Thursdays at 9:30am.

Toddler Time with Miss Becca is a special music and movement story time for children ages 2 and 3 years old and caregiver. Choose from Tuesdays at 9:30am or Wednesdays at 9:30am or 10:30am.

Preschool Explorers with Miss Clarissa is an exciting educational preschool program for children ages 3-6 years old and caregiver. Choose from Tuesdays or Thursdays at 10:30am.

A Blair County library card is required to register. Only 1 library card is needed per household.

Join us for Paws 2 Read on September 14th from 5pm - 6pm.

This heartwarming program partners with the Central PA Humane Society to create a paw-some reading adventure for children of all ages.

Kids can practice reading aloud to furry friends, boosting their confidence and literacy skills, while giving adoptable pets some much-needed love and attention. It's a tail-wagging, page-turning experience for everyone involved!

The Little House on the Prairie books by Laura Ingalls Wilder prompted both a link to our nation's past and to AAPL's SummerQuest theme of "Unearth a Story" for the school age children in local day care centers.

With guidance from AAPL's Outreach Coordinator Ms MaryKay, reflecting the time period of the books, students made pillowcases, patriotic wreaths and other household items.

The Friends of the Altoona Area Public Library will be holding their next Book Club on Saturday, September 19th at 10am in the library Board Room.

The book for this month is "The God of the Woods" by Liz Moore and is available for check out at the library.
