Attention Altavista businesses, churches, school and other community organizations, etc. . . "It's Fall, Y'all!" (or almost). 🍂🍁🍂 Let's get festive and creative and have a minimum of 20+ scarecrows 🧟‍♀️ downtown this year, particularly since Halloween 🎃👻😱 2026 will actually be celebrated on both Friday, October 30th (for the downtown businesses) and on Saturday, October 31st (for the rest of the community! 🎃💀🎃 --> Altavista On Track's annual Scarecrow Stroll will occur from October 1st - November 1st. And your business or organization can come from outside the Downtown District! We only request that you coordinate with AOT and a downtown property/business owner to display your scarecrows, please. Earlier this month, the Altavista Journal featured a story celebrating the 2nd anniversary of Solutions, Antiques and Collectibles -- yet another Altavista small business located in the downtown district! A BIG THANK YOU TO Katie Lane and her team at Campbell County Public Library System, Virginia and Friends of the Library for the wonderful "Back-to-School Block Party" held at Staunton River Memorial Library in downtown Altavista a couple of weeks ago!
