Airborne All the Way!

National Airborne Day is a special day designated to honor the U.S. Airborne Forces and the first parachute jump of 48 volunteer members of the U.S. Army Parachute Test Platoon on August 16, 1940.

The use of parachutes was an innovative method of warfare during World War II. This gave the Allies an opportunity to deploy the troops behind enemy lines. The first parachute jump pioneered the way for future jumps and also marked the birth of new airborne forces, that still play a vital role in military today!

Last week, the US Army announced that they no longer require a high school diploma or GED to enlist in the service. This is one of the most significant recruiting changes in recent years. It’s right up there with the $50K sign-on bonus.
