Alta Municipal Utilities, along with our contractor, is performing routine maintenance on the water tower. The work will take approximately 4 weeks and during this time you may experience some pressure fluctuations and discolored water. If you experience discolored water, run the tap nearest the water meter (preferably an outside spigot without a filter) until the water is clear. Additionally, during this time it would be beneficial to all of our customers if you could water your lawns during non-peak hours after 7-8 pm to help with pressure fluctuation during this maintenance. If you have any questions, feel free to contact Alta Municipal Utilities.

Attention Alta Municipal Utility customers:
AMU will begin flushing water mains the week of June 14th -19th. AMU personnel will be flushing overnight between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m., weather permitting.
During flushing, you may notice discolored water in your home. If you notice this, please turn on an outside cold-water faucet and flush out your service lines until clear. Thank you!

Dear Alta Residents,
Your utility has been making improvements to the water treatment plant, and a new system component is complete and producing water. This comes with new water quality, specifically water softened to an approximate total hardness of 260 mg/L or 15 grains per gallon. The system will continue with a free chlorine disinfection residual.
The updated system includes a process called reverse osmosis (RO), which uses membranes to remove hardness.
We know many residents have in-home water softeners. We would like to encourage residents to adjust their softeners accordingly for the new softer incoming water or consider not using their in-home water softeners at all. This may be done by using the bypass piping provided for many in-home systems, or by allowing the salt to simply run out.
This updated system does not take the place of the new water treatment plant that is planned for 3-4 years from now.
If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out.

Alta Municipal Utilities is currently in the process of some infrastructure improvements as part of our efforts to enhance service and reliability and to reduce outages. We are transitioning from overhead to underground electric lines and will be installing underground cables in the utility easements on or near your properties. Most of this project is occurring on the east side of Alta. You may notice service equipment being used and/or installed in your area. Our crews and contractors will work to minimize disruption and restore affected properties to original condition once the project is complete. During construction, there may be brief outages or limited access near where crews are working. We'll try to give you advance notice whenever possible. Thank you for your patience while we make these upgrades.
